British GP Practice

Post by woody » Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:50 pm

As some of you know, Nizzy won tickets to the Friday practice courtesy of Renault, so we travelled down to stay with my Aunt and Uncle in Oxfordshire for a couple of days. Renault put on a surprisingly good show (ref the pits girls 8) ) and had excellent seats booked for us in the Luffield C stand at the complex, just across from the pit entrance. :thumbsup The only disappointment of the weekend was not making it back up in time for 060708 :( And Nizzy's car made it there and back no bother :P

I've a few of the many pics here, but all of the cars on track shots are, to be honest, crap; we were just to far away. Nowt to do with my photography skills of course.

Setting off and a rare shot of Nizzy's boot being open. The weather was great all day:

other than a blown Exhaust, wonky steering, stuck boot and the passenger window playing up Car was fine and we did 45.5 MPG :D considering all the stuff crammed into it and me and woody (non of us thin) pretty good going. let's not forget that panic inducing wirring noice from inside the cabin that had me pulling bits of the car off outside Symington post office only to find out it after 300 worried miles that it was woody's toothbrush!!!

The car did well better than the welsh blokes Escort that we met on the way down, woody tried his best to put it out of it's misery by fanning the flames  but unfortunatly the flames went out and the escort survived. :(

A big thanks also has to go to Woody's Aunt, Uncle and Family for putting my up for a couple of day's greatly appreciated.

not my car (yet) but the theory goes - under the wheel arch is an area of high pressure and alot of heat is generated by the brakes adding holes to the top of the wheel arch will reduce the pressure and lift and help disipate heat :D - not that this happens much on my car when it's up on axel stands :(

Am I right in thinking those wheel arch slats will require a friendly MOT station?

Dunno, if/when I do it I will make them a little more fancy, the car had an MLOC sticker on it so maybe worth asking there :P
