Not a bad effort there mate, some nice pics 8)

Isn't that a uni-directional tyre pointing in the wrong direction on the "who dares bins" picture ?

Aye - that's the Shugmobile 8)

Sure the tyres can't be on backwards as I've never had both front wheels off at the same time. Never checked, cos it was Ronnie (wheels around) who fitted them so would be stunned if they are on backwards. Will pop out and check what the marker is for a bit later...

*Edit* Fark me, they are actually on backwards! A038s, so not a major hassle as they don't really clear water anyway... Could, of course, explain the near suicidal understeer last night in the torrential rain, coming up from Newton Stewart direction... Really surprised, as like I say, both fronts have never been off at the same time and Ronnie fitted them, so I haven't even given them a second look :(

The marker clearly says "ROTATION ==>" in the pic, Shug...

Ahh my talents are wasted sitting here, I should be working for kwik fit  Or Wheelsaround

Doesn't this have more implications than simply clearing standing water ? If that was the case, why make 48's unidirectional in the first place because they don't really clear standing water as you say.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure the tyres heat up and burn out quicker (and grip less) if they're rotating in the wrong direction.

Would be an explanation if it was the opposite, as those are supposedly Super Softs and have lasted over 2 sets of rear Medium Hards. I have a sneaking suspicion they had been sitting about for a fair while, as I called Ronnie to fit them at short notice, asking what he had that'd fit. The grooves are cut directionally, so it will make a difference to clearing water, however little they clear.

Now need to get the front end off the deck to swap them - PITA...

Weird... never saw that edit paragraph :? I must have had the thread open for an hour before replying  (must use refesh button )

Apparently, some tyres work better in reverse on fronts. A lot of Caterham owners do this for track driving on Avon CR500s... more to do with loading than actual tread characteristics I think, but I won't pretend to understand the reasoning! :P
