French Frolics 7 Trackday Vids

Post by BigD » Mon Sep 15, 2008 8:19 am

Some of my footage from the trackdays. 8)

Dijon following Andy in the Atom for a few laps. This was before my head gasket was shot and the car was not using water. Right Click/Save As 105Mb

Alés Track - Right Click/Save As 69Mb

Ledenon Track - Right Click/Save As 71Mb

Nurburgring Lap. A relatively quiet one after all the closures on the Saturday morning and about an 8min 30 lap. Right Click/Save As 91Mb

Nobody even like the Atom footage then? I thought it was pretty good watching it move on the corners etc. Oh well.

:thumbsup
good videos, nice to watch the atom twitching about, kept up well, it was quick out the corners too. The nurburgring vid doesnt convey the speed very well, prob cause its mounted in the back of the car.

Yeh, I have found that the better the quality the slower it looks. It's ok though cause I know the speed and don't need to make it 'look' quick.  I like seeing the driver inputs as it can often show where I have gone wrong.  Also it didn't get spotted in the back.

Understandable Scotty since you were VIP'ing it all week.

No worries Campbell. I'll give you an other couple of days.

They are quite short clips only 7 to 10 mins each as I didn't want to bore people with it.

:thumbsup

It a bit like watching other peoples holiday videos :damnfunny

I am sure the clips will not do your driving any justice, I was grinning like mad sitting in your pax seat, especially when you had 4 wheels off track :thumbsup . It was really weird on FF doing 2-11 - Evo back to back laps.

And all the better for it. Variety is the spice of life. :thumbsup

THought peeps may like to see the tracks and what they were like especially if considering FF8. It's a nice camera angle from my people carrier.

I have to say the LOT way is very cheap compared to trying it on your own or even in a small group. 3 trackdays then the ring is very hard on the car, you could always only do 1 or 2. I tend to pay it in stages and it doesn't seem so much then. Book the holiday first, then book the ferry, then start saving for fuel.

Then what to do is find someone to do it with you and it halves the cost. I think it's £500 if you book early. With 2 in the car it's £250 each for 3 trackdays, hotels and crossings. I reckon that makes it pretty cheap....

Either way, it's totally worth it :D :thumbsup

Big D,
Great vids....my favourites were the last two....although the one with Andy was good too!
What was making the dive bombing noise?
A van on the 'ring?
There were some good drivers in the 1st 3 vids.....you didn't seem to catch them as quick as you do at KH!

Good effort big chap!

Thanks Campbell. 8)

Ledenon and the ring were definatley my fav tracks although you need a bit of practise at the ring. The noise was probably an ongoing issue I've had with my tranfer box. It wines a bit.

You get vans, coaches and all at the ring. It's what makes it the place it is. :thumbsup

There were plenty of good drivers on the trip  and it takes a bit to learn a new track and have the same confidence of what is coming next.
