KH Hot Marques 21st Feb In Car - Ferrari and GT2 content

Post by BigD » Tue Feb 24, 2009 9:29 am

My in car footage from the weekend. GT2 driver not wanting to pull over and braking at strange places. He was pulling on the straights but very slow from duffus to clarks.

Oh and I wasn't trying to pass at the hair pin just out braked myself slightly.

What a kno8, not sure if he had any mirrors?

Interesting to see the in-car footage. Can't believe he wouldn't move out of the way for you. Some bizzare braking :?

Would be interested to know his track day experience.

His lines and braking were newbie minus, and with that advantage over Don on the straights he should have been pulling away.

the GT2 reminded me of the Rage buggies vs an Elise - they we quick, then held you up through every corner.

his braking points were laughable, and after scampering off down the main straight, pace through Duffus, was geriatric (no ref to tut :damnfunny )

Loved the "for f***s sake" comment after his quality braking towards the chicane :damnfunny :damnfunny :damnfunny

If ever there was a case for letting someone through to learn how they were reigning you in , with a slower car, that was it - mirrors were clearly an option he didnt tick :damnfunny

Truely bizarre lines through the chicane, you did well not to hit him.

Tis fast on the straights, but it should be with a 50hp advantage

Must have been really frustrating staying behind him........

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Frustrating that Duncan, but patience and good manners essential for safe trackday driving.

WTF was he doing in a GT2 though, that potential tap at the chicane would probably have cost him £20k to fix.

Was that a bollard in the middle of the road at the beginning of the pit wall on one of the busy laps?? watched it a couple of times but couldn't be sure.

Take care,

Frank

Did anybody have a word with him? Other way is to speak to Wullie in the Control Box who would black flag him if he kept it up.

I know it is naughty, but when someone like that really pees you off, I have effectively been so far up their chuff at the Hairpin and Clarks that after a few laps they overdo it and spin off.

As Robin will probably point out, you can always drop back until he has gone, or drive through the pits, but that is not as much fun.

Great Breaking Skills prevented an expensive coming together :D
The first time the driver will ever realise that you were behind him will be as a result of seeing your video clip

I do however have some admiration for the unbridled speed in which the GT2 took off leaving you for dead at every straight bit  ......

GT2......GT3 ......who cares .........fab cars

If big D had been any further up his chuff he would have impregnated him (and crashed in to him with the erratic braking!) :damnfunny

The guy in the Ferrari did have a word with him as he could see it all from behind me. I thought that was enough. I would have stayed out for a few more laps but my brakes were going off, pedal to the floor and not much there, so I didn't want to risk it with his antics.

I'm pretty sure he knew I was there and also that the braking was deliberate to put me off. I knew I had the camera running so wasn't really that bothered although it was a tad frustrating as I'd have liked to have seen if he could keep up over a whole lap or 2. His straight line advantage was really only up the main straight as I would come out of clarks quicker were he not in front. And even with that it was all gone by 1 corner. :damnfunny

Anyway makes good watching. :thumbsup
