Every time i see what you've done to a car i think "maybe i should"

then i go outside - looks at the stonechips, the cracks and the missing chunks of fibreglass and think "he aint no miracle worker" :damnfunny
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Ally, you got any before/after shots of the swirl removal and paint correction you did for this? Or was it just a basic wash/polish/wax/etc? Would be interested to see how you capture the removal of swirls on a photograph for a white car . . . must be really difficult to see the swirls, and your removal of them, in daylight on a white car.

I struggle to see swirls on my car (and it's a dark colour) in anything other than bright sunlight or fluorescent lighting, so must be a nightmare with a white car.

Hi Chris,

its very hard to capture them on a white car, the camera struggles with the amount of light coming in ( Adam, I may have to speak to you about my crap camera skills and see if you can give me some pointers ).

I Have a high powered led torch but finding the new black and decker worklight with 30 LED's is fantastic for swirl and defect spotting. On a white or silver car if you shine at an angle with the torch facing you then its possible to see the defects ( Hard to explain but next time I see you I will show what I mean ).

Finding the Meguiars #80 speed glaze is the trick to have at the moment, on a scale of 1 to 10 for cut its a 4 but also gives a sealing / polished finish ready for waxing, just such a good product.

Yours is just in such good condition mate that the swirls will be almost non existant anyway!!!!

Who is Chris?? :scratch I'm Dezzy! :D

I've got a wee LED light that I might try to use for swirl-spotting when the sun's not out :thumbsup

I wish my swirls were non-existant! :( Since the wax and other products you used on my car have worn off, the swirls are all showing up again. That scratch you worked on is gone, but the swirls all seem to be back. I am absolutely certain I've not inflicted them myself, as I take so much care with the paintwork. It's as if the Zymol wax and stuff was filling/masking them and they're all now showing through again. :? I'm going to need to try to fill them in again myself with SRP or something.

Chris, ( http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... =2&t=19663)

No matter how careful you are, due to the nature of the car it will through time get some swirls and scratches again, just the nature of the beast sir no matter how careful you are ( Which i'm sure you are ).
I Done some tests recently with a freshly painted panel with no swirls at all and used the power washer on full blast, shocking! Hence why I use it at a distance now and never on full power. Will try and get some pics and post them up for interest.

The Zymol Offers no real filling properties, however the Meguiars #80 I mentioned can be used by hand and gives great results so maybe worth a consideration to use yourself?
That or the product mentioned by Jason ( http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... 10&t=19582 ) for hand application.

Regards

I can't believe it accounts for the number of swirls that are now visible though. In bright sunlight, it's clear that the entire car is absolutely covered in swirls and it looks like it did before you did that paint correction for me. I agree that I might have inflicted the odd swirl here or there as you describe above, but I can't believe that I've inflicted all the swirls on it - it just looks like the original swirls that were always on the car from before I got it.

I never use a power washer (just a garden hose with gentle pressure), I always foam the car first before taking a mitt to it, I use the two bucket method and only use gentle pressure with the mitt, I pat the car dry rather than rubbing, and I've not used any polish/sealant/wax on the car since I had the paint correction done, so it can't be my cloths. I also wash all my mitts and drying towel after use (with liquid rather than powder detergent).

So I still remain confused as to how the swirls have reappeared. :?

could be the hose is not powerful enough to fend off the loose dirt. then make it loosen on your mitt instead.

It's the swirl fairies that are to blame!
