Some lovely shots Fergus :thumbsup Certainly fancy doing some photography stuff at an air show after seeing so many great shots recently.

Some of the guys on the BMW GS site had taken stuff at Duxford which was also great. http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194950

Nice shots, except for the frozen props/rotors. I prefer a bit of blur personally.

Am I the only find to find the irony on the skincare sponsored aircraft have girls perched on top with no face/eye protection?

Great shots Fd - you should start taking some at hillclimbs, I might win an event then

Yeah the Vulcan turned up, not a great thing for pictures really as they were being very careful with it . . . I guess without the tax payer paying for operating it (like in the olden days) they have to be a wee bit cautious which is fair enough, I also wonder if the health and safety muppets have dictated that they are not allowed to make lots of noise and get all the young kids crying, like they used to do at Leuchars when I was a kid ;-) . . . the wing walkers were great, very photogenic, the Chinook was pretty impressive (have seen one displayed before and it's worth seeing, throwing 24 tons of helicopter about the sky) . . . I was just taking a couple of snaps then watching the display . . . no point in being there and not enjoying the show by being obsessed with taking pics ;-) . . .

Fergus,

Great shots. We popped along as well (did see a Cateham leave so suspected it was you). To avoid the queue we decided to take the bike.

Unfortunately we could not see the girls very well, but thinking I may be visiting the website as I forgot to take suncream with me so my face could do with some skincare at the moment.

The chinook was definitely the star of the show for me as I could not believe how manouverable it was. My wife really enjoyed it as well as her dad was aircrew in the chinooks over the north sea.

Any chance you could send me the pic of the chinook as sure both my wife and her brother would appreciate the picture. Just PM if you want my email details.

Cheers

Hosed it down on Friday, and hosed it down today here in East Lothian... but Saturday was a perfect sunny weather window :)

The highlight for me was seeing a Vulcan in the sky again (prob late 70s when I last saw one flying at Teeside Airshow  ), but it was inevitably a slight disappointment as they clearly protect/nurture the airframe and engines. The wing walkers were good, in many ways :P Both helicopter displays (Chinook and Lynx) were impressive - never imagined such a utilitarian aircraft like the Chinook could be flung around the sky like that! The Blades aerobatics team gave good value, as did the guy flinging the King Air twin-prop about the sky.

TBH there have been better shows at EF, many notable aircraft/display teams were missing (eg. Red Arrows, Typhoon, Falcons, Harrier) - possibly due to Windermere and Sunderland date clashes (both much larger events/crowds). Lots of punters were parking on the surrounding road verges yesterday to watch for free... which can't help EF's cause

Pah!

Who's flying those planes? Stevie Wonder? Almost all pictures clearly show the aeroplane all over the place, either upside down (even I know thats not the correct way :?) or turning too sharply.

You should ask for a refund.

Awesome photos!

When length of lens were you both using? Were you using any filters?
