A few pics of our holiday last week up to Glencoe & Ben Nevis:
Sunsetting over the hills behind our house:

A view up Loch Leven from Glencoe village:

The top of Bidean Nam Bian (a warm up for the big one):

The long slog up Ben Nevis:

12:00noon on Wed 16th Sep (my 40th) the highest people in the UK:

The summit of the Ben (not the place for peace and solitude)

Couldn't resist it:

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

Two of the best days that I have had this year were going up those hills!
Is that the tourist route for the Ben?

It was the tourist route. I fancied the other route via the Cairn Mor Dearg, but have heard so many different stories ranging from an easy scramble to ropes required, I though I'd better play it safe. You don't get the views of the crags from the tourist route though, so may try the other route next time.
The path up the tourist route is very easy, you probably could get a mountain bike up most of it, but you may p*ss off a few walkers on the way.
As we were leaving the summit there were still loads of people arriving, so I reckon by about 1:00pm there would be at least double the number in the picture. That was a week day as well. You could probably double that again at the weekend if you had the weather. So definitely not the place to get away from everyone. I only did it as it's something I've always fancied doing. TBH the walk we did on Monday up Bidean Nam Bian (3rd pic) was much more rewarding and technically more difficult.

CMD does not need ropes and is (IMHO) the best way to do the Ben. If the arete gets too scary just go over to the left and follow the granny track!
I agree that Bidean Nam Bian is a superb day out.
Once I've broken in my new boots the AE ridge will be getting ticked off! I will post up an open invite when I'm going.

AE is another of those climbs I've heard differing stories about, but always fancied doing it.
Might be tempted to join you for this. Any tips/experiences about what to expect?

I expect there to be big drops and a bit of exposure.....but not as bad as the legend!
I will stick a post up when I'm going to do it.
That is my ankle cleared by the physio, just need to break in the new boots!
