Test Vid - 55s lap of Knockhill with VBOX overlay
As above - just playing about. Quality isnt the best as I used a small version of the vid not the orig raw vid. The data overlays are from a RaceLogic performance box.

Next trackday I'll try and get a longer vid, with driver camera, AND data overlay... I think it pretty funky LOL

I love this sort of thing - like you I was tempted with the RaceLogic videobox but felt it just cost tooo much, maybe in next years budget
How are you doing this overlay? Is it an add on for the performance box or is this the Vbox lite?

Its free - thats why i'm so impressed. I can get it looking much better - gauges in line etc LOL http://www.trackscotland.co.uk/forums/v ... php?t=2113
DL this http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/109708/RaceChrono2AVI.zip , use Performance Tools(havent found the option in Circuit Tools yet) to export a .csv file (Tools/Export Data/To TrackVision) in the correct format for loading into RaceChrono. Then you have a vid of the 'data'. Then use some vid editing softwate to overlay the Data Vid on the 'Action' video - you need to get the timing right but thats no great shakes to do.
A bit more time/effort but if it saves me 1.2k then I'm happy.

That's very cool. I know it's not in the same league, but I recorded some data using an app on my Android phone called Trackmaster. I downloaded that AVI generator from the link you provided and I've manually jigged created the csv. Not working yet, the only hurdle I've got now is to convert the time into a timestamp to make it compatible, might be trickier.

post the results up when you get it working
Re: Test Vid - 55s lap of Knockhill with VBOX overlay
I had a play and this is my first attempt

I had problems loading the PBox start line data so it was an approximation on the RaceChrono software map. I am sure it would be easier second time round and a little more time sorting out the graphics would make this a worthwhile little bit of software - particularly as it is free

Looking good Dave. How long does it take you to format data and superimpose the graphics?

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Hi Mass,
Once you've cracked it, it only takes a few minutes but I found one or two bugs that I needed work round. You also need video editing software to combine the two videos together. On the plus side, it is simple to customise and change the backgrounds, gauges etc.
It is also nice to be able to add the data retrospectively and I probably do some of my better laps for the archive
I hope you're OK Mass. Any new on the car front?

yup - once you've worked out whats what It doesnt take long....
If you have 10mins of 'logs' you want to ovelay on a video it'll take 10mins + some settings up time to make. Pity you cant fwd that bit LOL
David - i'll check out your vid in a bit.
