Scottish Elises

I have managed to deliver on one of my new year pledges already. In the few days before going back to work, and with the help from my ever supportive Mrs, we cleared out 3 small van loads of junk from the garage that went to the dump and a variety of other bits and bobs that needed to find other homes around the house or in the garden shed and the end result is that the Elise now has an indoor home!!



It's a bit of a squeeze. I can just about get in and out, and theres very little room at the back of the car, other than to have a tool kit and some other stuff, but the goal of having the car as a second car and living in the garage is completed, well chuffed. I now just need to hook up my solar panel battery conditioner and keep my promise to use the car at least once a week...not hard.

Nice! I always wanted a garage for mine and sadly never managed one

As already said, glue some carpet onto the wall. Nothing worse than smacking the door into the wall (ok, there are a few things worse but you know what I mean)

I really need to empty my garage too, my VX has been lying in my unit for about a month

I've already got an offcut in the wee Merc waiting to go up.

Not sure about the floor though, I've tried that before and when you also use the garage for woodwork etc (car out obviously) a nice concrete floor is much easier to brush.
Might look into those rubber mat things once I've stumped up for another few tins of masonry paint and finished the walls. lol

Garage floor paint is the way to go - stops the concrete dust and looks good too (needs a re-coat every year or so though )

Just don't do what my dad did; started brushing / rollering it on; splill some, then decided to empty the paint tin, and 'sweep' the paint across the entire floor; 3 weeks later it still had not dried enough to drive on without it all coming up and sticking to the car tyres

Last time I was doing mine I wondered about just tipping the paint out and spreading it Forewarned is forearmed.

If you can't get carpet then Dobbies do this great material (used for green houses to soak up water I think). It has a felt exterior and a green backing - we have covered the garage walls in the stuff (and used load of no more nails) and it does the trick.

It is a little bit thinner than carpet so you get a little bit more clearance to open the doors. If you want some more info I will try and track the stuff down.

Local B&M Bargains shop had pairs of Black and Yellow Foam Padding backed with adhesive tape for a couple of quid. Would give it a nicer finish and especially designed for the purpose.

The foam tiles would be very cool but I think it gets quite dear once you floor the whole garage. Will keep an eye out though.
