SIDC Knockhill 17th March 2012

Post by Stewart » Sat Mar 17, 2012 5:52 pm

Turned out a nice day so took a drive up for a blether and a few photos. Here are the best of them. Pleasantly surprised as it is a long time since I took any track photos and forgot how to adjust the camera

A few shots from a different perspective by my GF. I'll post up a few more when I get a minute to upload them.

I've uploaded some to FB here:

Feel free to tag anyone in the photos :)

Uploading to my website here: http://www.flatoutphotography.com/gallery3/2012/KH1703 where you can link them easily into forums :)

Not the best of shots, but not many people wave turning into Duffus :)

I've still got a few hundred more that I haven't had a chance to look at yet, so if anyone is missing let me know!

Really enjoyed Saturday's trackday, although my M3 definitely isn't a track car! I ran out of brakes after a few laps every outing, tried to stay out once and lap with Clarky for a while but a brake pedal on the floor and struggling to make Duffus I had to concede the Z4M is far more capable :thumbsup

It was also my first outing with my DSLR, didn't mess too much with the settings but took a lot of shots and got most of the SE'rs I think. A few of the better ones are below and the rest can be found on my Photobucket album:

Would like to see some more pictures of my M3 on track if anyone has them? :cheers

Clarky - top marks mate!!

How is the Zed compared to the lighter stuff over a lap? Do the brakes cook as quickly as an M3's?

I was going to plump for a 'cooking' Z4 coupe think it'll have to be the M now - the shots of it on track look epic 8)

The zed was a blast, however, my little write up below will tell you that its a far better b road blaster than a track car, its really good, but just no track car, i reckon 5K would sort it tho, but its my daily driver so i would rather spend it on the e30!

Brilliant track day, it was good to get the big zed on track, but I'm not sure if it will be repeated i enjoyed seeing what it can do, but i couldn't help thinking that i would have been having far more fun in the E30!!!

I enjoyed playing with some of the bigger boys this time though as the pace on the fast sections was immense!! I'm seriously impressed with the speed of the zed, but it was lacking on a few things (and possibly just because I'm so used to the E30)

it could do with proper track tyres, better brakes (i kept cooking them, and that was with yellow pads, and rbf 660 fluid!) it needs a little castor+camber adjustment with offset front wishbone bushes to dial out the understeer, and it was also really strange no being strapped into a bucket seat on track - you have to work so much harder!! lol

and yes stifler - i wouldn't personally consider a non M power - I'm sure they are all good enough, but unless it has a S54 its just a hairdressers car! lol
