Snappers

Post by mac » Mon Sep 17, 2012 4:03 pm

Looking to buy Mandy a new camera this Christmas to replace her current D3000. Sticking with Nikon I'm looking at either a new D90 or a secondhand D300s

She has a 55-300 Sigma Lens and a something or other 500mm lense along with the standard one. Chances are that her existing camera will go to my niece who's looking to get into photography.

Sifting out the Cannon fan boy comments can anyone point me in the right direction - main subject matter is photography of GSD's at shows both static and in motion and the odd shot of me at hillclimbs.

TIA

Choosing between those two options, Mac, and assuming this will be used for shooting (active) dogs then the D300s has a far superior AF system (essentially same as D700 and D3).

Of course, there's buying new vs used to consider and the D90 is also an excellent camera. Best plan would be for Mandy to go handle both in a bricks'n'mortar store - they have physical differences.
