Nice one Leigh! About time you upgraded from the S2 to an S1 :thumbsup 8)

That looks the business. I suspect, if that's the car I think it is,.. it's origins may well be with an certain well known SEr!

How are you enjoying it? What's the spec on it? (Other that what we can see in the pics)

hi dom,

The car was owned by a Tony Dowe, who raced it a many moons ago, if that's the well know fella your speaking about. then a nice gentleman in London (guy trust) don't think he will mind me mentioning his name, bought it and held it for 7 years until, i came along, and he reluctantly, sold it to me.....

i believe that a well known race engineer Bernard Scouse did the engine conversion with auto-teknic......the engine is a Audi 1.8T 20v BAM engine. This one is producing 323 whp and im told weights 820 kg fully wet.

the rear spoiler is a Simon McBeath CF motor race one( if that means anything  ). The red lever in the cabin pics is a brake bias and the hand brake is a lock off valve. CF rear elige clam and a custom motor sport splitter...etc

hi scott,
lol, yes shes not pristine, in any way but fully functional  , how is the elise, are you signed up for all the SIDIC TD this year? still melting tired :P

That was my car, the original N1 TUT that I wrote off in 2001, Geary then bought it at auction in Southampton and started the conversion. Tony Doe bought it from him and then spent a fortune on his own conversion, think that he said he had spent £100K on it when he put it up for sale.

This is from the original thread in 2006.

tut

Just had this e-mail from Tony Doe

"Hi tut,

Yes its still for sale at the moment, got several viewings on it next week. If your intrested let me know? We will be rebuilding N1 TUT over the winter as a race car which I will race in the new Elise cup series next year.

Will be upgrading the Audi engine to about 360bhp and I have to put a new full body on the car as they won't allow carbon panels in the regs. Also going AP 4 pots all round, nitron 3 ways, full cage, motorsport uprights ete etc.

The car will be awesome when its finished!

Regards
Tony"

I was driving home from Maud that is three miles away Leigh.

"I actually clipped the grass verge when I sneezed, just a mile from home. Road was above the field, and I went end over end, landing on my wheels.

I went over a cow and slightly damaged its back, but dont think that caused the roll bar V. However the farmer claimed for damage to his award winning Scottish Champion in his claim, along with the demolition of his flat, rusty fence that I cleared by a mile.

Got away with a small scrape on the head, and bruised thighs. This was five days before tuttowers 2001, so had to buy an identical car on the Internet straight away as I did not tell anybody about the accident, get down to Berkshire to pick it up, and arrived home at 0200 Friday morning a few hours before the start of my own event.

Those were the days..........
