Cool, always wanted to do that. :thumbsup

How do you build up to do freefall? (No cheap shots by saying you just jump out everyone)

Have you to do a certain amount of parachute static line or tandem freefall ones first.

This is on my bucket list. 8)

I remember reading on here by someone about a place in Scotland that does it, but if you travelled further south, then you jump from a higher height.

Any info would be grateful and perfect excuse to use the Gopro.

Steve.

Any other skydivers on here? Kenny, Flyingscot?

There are 2 basic ways of learning to skydive, AFF or old school static line, explained here http://www.freefalladdicts.com/static_l ... _aff.shtml
AFF is the only way to do it in my opinion and this gets you straight onto freefall. There is still a massive and steep learning curve after going through AFF, and I am still on it after over 800 jumps! It is never anything less than hugely exciting and challenging.

A tandem jump is a good way of getting a feel for what freefall feels like. If you are going to do it I'd recommend a trip down to Black Knights http://www.bkpc.co.uk/

If you need any more info just ask.

You mean where for AFF? There are quite a few places in the UK which run AFF courses, but for anyone who is serious about learning I'd recommend doing it in Spain either here http://www.skydivespain.com/ or here http://www.skydiveempuriabrava.com/ . More reliable weather makes a huge difference - AFF is all about building confidence quickly and the last thing you need is downtime due to bad conditions.

As Mark says, AFF is the way to go.
If I were to do it again I'd take a two week holiday to Spain and get stuck in.
It really is the most amazing experience, the jumps, the people and the party's make it a life changing experience. If you fancy it Steve I couldn't recommend it strongly enough.
Only issue for me was that Lesley was struggling with worrying about me, so I agreed to stop.
Once you get in to it though you begin to realise that it's not actually that dangerous.
Go for it!

I did a tandem a couple of years ago. Woah, the feeling of dropping out of the plane for the first time is incredible. A nice easy way to get the feeling without great time and expense.
