Hmmmmm... Nice vid, I like he's brought the car back from the brink but what he's done to my eye is questionable lol, he loves it and that's what's important I guess but he says he's done all he can to make it lighter? Hmmm the only thing he's actually done is bin the window mechs and motors and fit a canvas strap instead of them.. Hes' added the equivalent weight by increasing the unsprung weight by sticking big V8 wheels and tyres on it, yet says the perfomance difference is noticable with the saved weight... He's left the heavy leather interior in there, that's where I'd start if trying to shed the lbs out of an 88 Turbo, set of kevlar seats and lightweight carpet binning the really heavy sound deadening under it.

Fair play to the lad though as he's created something beautiful to his eye, I did exactly the same thing to my 88 Turbo back in the day but I didn't strip out the window mechs for light weight I went the other way and added Powa! my seats were sport 300 so saved a few grammes not that I'd notice that though. Everyone has different taste so it's kinda subjective....

Matter of taste.. (Mine)

Thanks Steve :thumbsup It's now with a new owner in Holland who has changed it again to his liking ;) Everybody likes different things, I like my variation the best though lol!

I've always been a huge fan of the Esprit, but I think I'd be too nervous of an owner to ever take the plunge! (plus I love my elise).

But you are right Mark, the customisation aspect is entirely subjective, and I always feel it's better to satisfy your own tastes before anyone else. I actually started off not liking the car in the video but by the end I really liked it, I think the colour really suited the shape and the slight change in tone was a nice touch.

The front lip not so much, but hey, as you say, he seems to be having a good time.

I couldn't help myslef so wondered onto PH to see what they go for these days, these two GT3's are very nice!

Totally agree Mark - not my modding route, but as you say, as long as he is happy. It can only be a positive thing that a car has been rescued.

Is it just me, or does it look like it has a rather high ride height?

Doesn't seem that modified? I actually quite like it & I've never really been a fan of Stevens Esprits, but then I like their bikes too. Some nice shots in the film :thumbsup

Think it's riding high due to the condition of the roads there?

I had a GT3 for a while about 7 years ago. Prices seem similar to what they were back then. Funnily enough the car turns up in a lot of the magazine reviews of Esprits which is nice to see.

I'd like a GT3, a couple of years back they were £12K prices on the up now though... Also I'm aware how fragile the feckers are so I'd need a large wedge of cash behind me before ever thinking about going down the Esprit route again

Top one is mine. I have to be honest and say I was nervous before buying it, but it's been flawless!
I'm looking for an S1 or a caterham (or both ;) ) again now.

Do you still have the exige? I remember chatting to you about it at KH once, had the 'winglets' on it if I recall correctly?

If you're up for a straight swap on it for my s1 I'll give you my number ;)

But in all seriousness, all the best with the sale, the Gt3 looks brilliant.

I sold the Exige a while back. It was a bit unusual with the wings and I wasn't a big fan but it was a cheap Exige! You wouldn't pick one up for that now!

hopefully I'll get back to KH this year.
