So anyone that knows me will know that I have had a bit of a chew on over the last five years getting my car back on the road after I was let down badly by a Lotus "Specialist". Now the car is back on the road thanks to the work done by Craig Moncrieff and his team I have no intention of waiting till the summer to get out and use it. I have waited long enough.
The Rannoch run has been on the cards for years. We tried to plan it one year to tie in with my car being returned after an engine rebuild, but alas I was let down again and the car was not ready. So an attempt was made with me driving my S4 (heated seats 4WD). Mark and Ken bravely tried to keep up. We get as far as Pitlochry services that year but were advised by some very helpful police officers that the roads round Rannoch were treacherous and they had already been to two incidents with cars going off the road that day. Attempt aborted.
The thread has raised its head a few times after receiving promises of having the car returned by a given date, each time I was let down. No run..
So the LEGS meeting at Polmill was to be the start point for a shake down run. I knew right away what my target destination would be. Just to get there with the car started to turn into a "thing". It had to happen to draw a line under the whole frustrating affair. Car sounding great, handling on the red Konis was terrible.Tyres still had a skin on them and were slippy as hell. And the throttle felt a bit weird.. We managed to get as far as Pitlochry services again before the throttle cable decided to seize up on me. Rannoch was not going to happen that day. Big thanks again to Stu for giving me a run home in his amazing v6 Exige.
So I get home from dropping Megan at school and the sky is clear blue! Not a cloud in the sky. Checked the weather forecast and tentatively put the idea to SWMBO. pre conditions agreed and the run is on..

We stopped here after the LEGS meeting.
The siding now has bloody great poles all over it so you can only get one car stopped at a time.
Satnav performed ok
Parked up at Kinloch Rannoch
It is over, the itch has been scratched You have no idea how much this has been bugging me over the years.
I don't know if this video will play, but here are the fireworks that I set off after I reached Rannoch Station...

I'm hopping that they were just a temporary thing because of the localised flooding.smoo25 wrote:Good job man, shame they have poled off that handy catchup point
