S2 Exige S

Post by Neil A » Fri Feb 17, 2017 12:14 am

This may be a little jumbled up as copy and paste from another site I use

Image

Last week I said bye bye to the beetle :(

With offshore work being so unpredictable at the moment I decided to be sensible and free up some cash so sold what will probably be the fastest and best car I will ever own :cry:

Did take something fun in px though :banana:

Few parts started to arrive for the car , and had a bit of time now I'm home from work to start going through the car .
Looks to have a lot of nice parts but also a few bodges so will take a little bit more work than I thought.
I have got some oil temp and pressure gauges , may use the temp one for the gearbox to start with to get an idea of how hot the box actually gets.

Unfortunately due to a mix up at the dvla the V5 got lost , so have now had to re apply, this has also meant i can't road tax the car

Did get my road wheels mounted up and adjusted the ride height up as it was set at 105 front /115 rear when loaded with 75kg in each seat.

So today the car came to bits, and is now in the rebuild stage complete with now having a boot/storage space .

Looks good with the roof off.

Rear spoiler, roof and rear clam removed

Rear storage box is now ready to fit, front is covered in a double layer of heat barrier with around 2" of clearance from the manifold. Still have access to the battery and have air flow either side to allow heat to escape through the rear vents.

Oil cooler is now fitted in the nearside rear , I will monitor temps and if needed vent the arch liner to increase flow.

Image

Gauges now fitted and wired

Image

Ive also added extra bracing to the front splitter as it was flexing above 80mph and actually hitting the road, I also had to modify a front tow post to work with the gt3 clam.

Image

Ive still to make two little trim pieces for the side of the boot box, but atlas now have somewhere to put stuff if going for a run or to a track day.

Image

Image

Also tracked down an under tray so will get that fitted at the end of the week , also got a digital temp gauge to fit to the gearbox to see how hot its getting before I decide if I'm going to fit a cooler and pump.

Another big thanks to wheelcoat for the 2 day turn around on my wheels even though I said no rush lol

sadly since I've bought the car the weather has been poor So not had much use out of it, in a way it's a good things meant I got on and did most of the jobs I had planned to do over the next 6 months.

I still plan long term to get wider rear wishbones made for the rear to let me run without rear spacers but for now I'm going to enjoy the car as much as possible. I will say it is very loud and wouldn't like to go for a long trip,in it but that wasn't what I bought the car for.

Agree with Scotty. Front splitter is ok, but the rear spoiler is far too big.
Wonder if the 2010 spoiler would fit in the same holes .......

The pictures make it look even bigger than it is , it is huge but think its fitting with the rest of the car and is the same as the GT3 race cars were fitted with

Did my first tacky yesterday in this car :) , thanks to John for sorting the day and for the photos. Sorry for my driving on the day going to take a while to build confidence to push the car harder Im use to fwd.

Sadly never got around to putting my go pro in the car .

Was good fun but the car definitely needs the roll bars as the springs are a bit soft causing roll in the corners.

Hard on the brakes at end of the straight chasing the GT3, this will explain the worn splitter

that front splitter will be costing you 5-10 mph on the straight.
