Pick the right grandstands and the weather is manageable

I was pleasantly surprised how little complaining my son James did!

Grandstands are fine and pit access is the best bar none. I was more referring to the camping though that doesn't apply to the posh IBIS people

Been to Silverstone 5 times in past 5 years and each time we've had wet windy cold weather which is unfortunate. Also puts a damper on the live bands. Paul Young was a total wash out couple years ago and last year I was 1 of 50 watching noOasis at 7pm Fri slot. At least we were all front row :D , fortunately it dried for main band SoulIISoul and few thousand made it from the campsites.

Its never been entirely wet wet wet, just highly changeable which puts a damper on BBQs etc. Lets hope Clachtol is better . :cheers

917 being put onto Porsche stand, seeing it Saturday parked up next to 2 GT40’s was nice

Just had dinner back at tent on the BBQ after numerous beers in the afternoon and evening, it’s 00.15 on Sunday morning, kettle on for a coffee and THE plastic pint glass for a few beers

Good weekend access to cars in the paddock and garages was great to see as well as wandering around all the parked up car groups. Old F1, sport cars and 90’s touring cars were great to see. Bit weird walking round Silverstone and a Sierra Cosworth RS500 touring car followed by a Jag D-Type trying to do clutch control up hills in traffic queues. Walked round lots of the circuit and the grandstands over the weekend gave me a good feel for future Silverstone visits. Big TV screens made a big difference to understand the races and really need a 35mm camera with lenses if you want any decent on track pics.

Bumped into Ali Smith in a pub tent by chance (maybe a good chance that would happen :D ) and met up with Campbell for a while late Saturday afternoon and a few Porsche mates Sunday morning in Porsche tent.
