My yellow VX

I've just put a post up in the newbies section introducing myself but thought it would be better to post my photos up here.

It's a 2.2 and is no.99 of 100 special edition 'Lightning Yellows'.

Enjoy;

It was quite substantially modded by the last couple of owners.
Performance wise it is 'stage 2' which consists of Milltek exhaust, sports cat, pre-cat removed and a remap. That little lot gives just a bit more than 160bhp.
It's also got Spax adjustable suspension.

Cosmetically it's got headlights from the turbo model (black internals instead of silver) and the turbo front splitters and rear spoiler. The V on the grille has also been painted black and 'slotted'as per the VX220 racecar. The black wheels and windscreen surround are standard on the Lightning Yellow edition.

I know it's not strictly an Elise but what do you think?

What I think Steve, is that is an excellent spec and a very tastefully improved car.

I haven't been totally sold on the VX shape, TBH...although I do go along with most of the other things it offers, like a bit extra refinement, different engine experience from the Elise's K, and perhaps a wider choice of dealer (?).

BUT, when I saw your very first pic I was impressed. The yellow and black combo is really something and it sets your car out from the crowd. Dare I say, makes it a bit more Lotus-esque ;-)

As for performance improvements, do I take it that's about 10bhp more? That's worth a lot in a light car, well done. I've just squeezed an extra 15bhp out of my S1 Elise with a bit of cylinder head rework and it feels FANTASTIC.

Welcome to the group. You will find this lot a pretty jovial bunch, and don't take any VX jokes seriously...we all know it's an S2 Elise under the skin...and some of us know that the new Europa is near as dammit an "S2" VX220 Turbo ;-) So all friends here.

cheers

Campbell

Thanks for the comments! There are a fair few Lightning yellows around here now. 5% of the total made live between Kirkcaldy and the Forth bridge!
Think Fife has a fettish for limited edition yellow cars though. My brother used to have a Civic jordan and there were at least 10 of the 500 made within a 10mile radius of Kirkcaldy. :?

Elisa- to be honest I'm not totally convinced by the Spax yet. The previous owner softened them one click from how they were set up and I'm going to tinker around a bit more and see if I can get a set-up that suits the bumpy roads around here a bit better. Keep me posted on how you find yours.

Campbell, the engine mods are worth about 15bhp (it's approx. 145bhp standard) so it's a fair gain. Would have been nice to drive the car standard though so I could appreciate the difference.

Renmure- black and yellow is indeed the way forward. You just have to look at this months evo. One the cover is a yellow Gallardo Superleggera with black wheels, then inside theres a lovely Aston V8 convertible in the same colour scheme.
Remeber though- Vauxhall did it first

Ditch the silver badge on the front and can you get a black fuel filler cap for the VX? That would finish off the black/yellow scheme :thumbsup

Agree with Si - black fuel filler would look good. I would get rid of the badge / black V altogether - Jons looks great with nothing there (although he does look like he is ashamed of it being a Vaux  )

JJ (also black and yellow)

Cheers for the suggestions. Personally I don't like the 'open mouth' look that VX's have when you take off the V completely. I think I'll have a play in photoshop though and see what it would look like with the Vauxhall badge black though. :thumbsup

Agree that the filler cap would look far better black and may investigate that.

My only plans for it cosmetically were to remove the Vauxhall badge from the rear (just realised I haven't put up any pics of the back) and paint the VX220 badge black. The callipers are going to be painted black too with the AP racing logo highlighted in yellow. Silvervision indicators on the front to get rid of the orange blobs and that would be it done. 8)
