Picked up an Elise today.....*mega update! almost finished*

.... Not long back from a fairly long day (700miles of driving!) and picked up my new (to me) Elise.

Thought process was to sell exige and buy something cheaper. I tried to pretend that a timebomb of a cheap S1 Exige would fill this criteria but after much thinking and trying to be sensible I had a rethink.

I had been doing much scouring of the classifieds in the last 8 weeks and had seen this car previously advertised (and then sold) so noticed it for sale again with the magic "OFFERS WANTED" line in the ad.

Story goes it was an guy (ex-forces aircraft engineer like a few here, must be a trend) and he had sold it before being messed about by a buyer and also DVLA, had changed jobs to a 100mile commute to another airport and simply wanted a hassle free quick sale :D Emailed, made what I thought was a ridiculous low offer of the cash in 24hrs, he said yes

He was the 2nd owner and had used it daily, car has full dealer history (inc cambelt) and is completely (and I mean completely) basic and standard. No mats, 2 speakers, nothing else. Original spec everything down to the tyres / brakepads / intakes / exhaust the lot. Needs some tyres and rear pads (but they will all be getting upgraded) and so far in the 250 miles I have done its been a joy. My bro likened it to driving a feather with an engine, the difference in power between the exige and elise seems less on the road than the figures.

Going to miss the exige a lot, but all going well be back in one soon, and its not a bad car to have for the summer really!

Anyway, pic below

Thanks to bro for the run up and down :D

Spent half an hour looking round it properly tonight, and very pleased, it doesnt need much and what it does need I would have been wanting to replace anyway. Looking forward to getting it on KH.

Tyres and the rear pads are the immediate thing, so if anyone has used / part worn rear tyres or pads to get me through this month let me know!

JJ - I have loads of assorted half used pads for rainy days - I also have disks too if you're looking for them.

Cheers,
Robin

Robin,

Going to have a good look underneath at the weekend, as I suspect the rear bilsteins are on their way out (they have been 3 times round the world after all  ) so will check the disks then for ridges.

I have a receipt of replacement 18k ish ago so they should be fine as the previous owner has managed over 25k from the tyres

edited for geography
