picked up an exige yesterday - another new car thread.....

Post by jj » Sun Jul 15, 2007 9:59 pm

..... and I love it.

After a few phonecalls on Friday, a speedy and hassle-filled trip to the bank, a flight to Birmingham which was cancelled, another flight, and the 300 miles home, I have a new car. All inside 24hours of it going up for sale :D .

2000 S1 exige 190 in titanium

Story goes, I bought it from a dealer who took it in p/x against a subaru. The guy pulled a stunt and traded it in to them with it needing a rebuild, so the guys decided to get the work done and keep it as a toy. It had all the mechanicals overhauled and they both hated it (he thought I was nuts wanting to buy it :? :) ) so decided to sell it.

It is ridiculously noisy, it is lumpy, bumpy, my girlfriend hates it and I love it. It is so different to the S2 Exige I dont know where to start.

Anyway, a photo.

400 miles so far and its not blown up, so quite happy

Noticed on the motorway coming home at a steady 90ish tuts people moved out of the way pretty sharpish - I guess they do look pretty mean from the front.

I am going to be putting the a048s on it and selling the compomotives as they need adapters to fit it seems and I rather like the standard wheels.

I have some front number plate brackets for S1 Exige if you need one
Cheers Paul,
It has a bit of aluminium fixed to the front splitter that the plate was attached to, but I removed it before I left birmingham for obvious reasons of tuttage on the way home

It also has a pretty pimped out red alcantara interior which I love but its definately a love hate thing I think

Medal is in the post

Will be up at KH asap, probably at a evening event.

As for the differences between s1 + s2, I used to read folk going on about how the s2 is soft etc in comparison and think they were talking pish, but its true, both are awesome cars in their own right. I think each lotus has some flaws, and each one has its best bits.

S2 Exige reliability +interior, s1 exige noise + feel, a/c from S2, s1 exige looks, and you`d have a neat car.

Looks fantastic in titanium. 8)

The front tyres look too narrow for the wheels? I guess you'll be changing them with the other alloys.
