Got the NIP in, front facing van and I was in the beemer, now I am normally pretty good with the old eyes, ask Kerry.

Went past the spot today and there was the can again, look to the right of the van and there is a 40mph sign. They did me prev for 40 in a 30.

Are they allowed to use front facing cameras? :?

I heard of someone recently who got off a speeding offence (or at least reduced points I think) because the officers who caught him were not wearing their hats! Apparently not wearing hats equates to not wearing proper / full uniform. :?

Anyone able to comment on that one?

Reckon you can only object if you weren't actually doing 40 in 30.

Bit cheeky doing you if you were accelerating up to the sign into the 40... but then again... it ain't a 40 until you pass the sign... not when you see it...

Money grabbing b'stards sometimes....

It's this kind of behaviour that causes folk to lose sympathy/respect for them.

Dave.

done doing 50 on a 40 mph dual carriage way in sunny weather with no traffic, houses, slip roads or any other dangers of any kind by a video scamera van faction.

How did you miss it, with your xray vision you should have seen it from a few miles.

I'm no expert on these matters, but can't you request the picture so that you can identify exactly where you were done.

Was goign to use the defence that prior to the 40 sign there were no 40 signs and I looked up, saw the "hazard" of the van in the layby, checked my speed by the signage level with the van ....

What is the worst the magistrate can do me for ?

They'll do you for 3 points £60.

Prior to the 40 sign there were no 40 signs - probably because it was a 30!

How many points are you on?

6 with 3 coming off in Sept I think.

Genuinely hacked off as I am a victim of looking ahead!

This the one?

My reading of your post Sanjoy is that you were going over 30 in a 30.

Life sucks, pay the fine, as Robin said.

the not wearing hats thing is urban myth - it is not a requirement. Keith

Check the range they are allowed to do you at, then find it is plenty long enough and then pay the fine.

They could throw the book at you if the magistrate is feeling grumpy

I was wondering, as I'm sure some unmarked traffic cars have plain clothed officers.

The speed limits are absolute at the signs.

I would ask the question on Pistonheads as IIRC they must measure your speed from within the limited area. So not as they do in my piccy.

Currently AIUI lots of protested cases are being dropped.

There is a time v cost implication that results in most people paying the tax.

If you were speeding then I think you should pay the fine
