Sorry you had to learn the hard way, still, as everyone says, iot could have been much worse.

Thats what scares me, if you were only doing 10mph - how the heck did the car react so insanely?

G.
Your Walshy day will show you a thing or two about that, you'll be surprised how far the car travels when you have lost grip.

Don't be scared of your car, treat it with respect. Grip is a finite thing for a given set of conditions - road and tyres. The grip is shared between accelerating/braking and steering, in dry conditions you may have got away with going into a corner too hot and braking.

Be smooth and progressive with the driver inputs and if you do feel a loss of grip (feels a bit sort of icy), then, as long as you are smooth, you can ease off.

Don't let this incident put you off for the rest of the summer, you never know, it might dry up soon. :D

Gary, glad to hear of this in a funny way...almost the best thing that could happen. Your enthusiasm in earlier posts were a bit disconcerting....I thought I was a reasonable driver with 20 years behind me but as Andy says you start learning from scratch with the Elise. I found no amount of preaching/advice here is a substitute for what you learn in a little waltz :)

Glad it was painless, and hope it's nothing more than a knackered wheel...PITA but easy sorted. Hope none of this sounds patronising- but obviously knackered SE-ers are harder to fix and nobody wants that. :thumbsup

Gary I have 30 years of driving behind me and have to 100% agree with Bertie. Take care.
