Noticed that it's now available.
Induction seems to be one of the first mods made by people.
Is it just better noise - nothing wrong with that!
Or are there any other
real benefits?
Finally (sorry) is anyone thinking of getting one fitted?

I've got the pipercross on mine, and i felt it gave it more go lower down the rev range, and have been very happy with it.
It also makes the passenger feel like there's a cobra behind them, as it makes a great noise! Ask Phil

As far as I could tell the Hurrcane on my humble (!) K monkeyed about with the torque /power curve, seemed to pick up a little quicker, but not enough to write home about.

Heard many good reports about the pipercross and the ITG, but they are about twice the price of the hurricane - if the results are similar then I think I know which one I'm prefering...

I can't see what difference it will make, they all have the same sort of paramaters, they must have simlar filtering ability to protect the engine, all you can do is make it bigger, but as they are all roughly the same size and using the same size pipes.....
Unless you are using a RR and are desperate for that last bhp I would go for what your walet says...
Ready to be put back in my box, but thats my 2p.

I'm not using anywhere near the standard bhp, so extra not really the issue.
Suppose I really just want a bit more noise and can't yet stretch to an exhaust.
Spending most of my Elise time/miles doing the daily commute so esthetics over performance - anything to make things seem a bit "different".

I'd save for the exhaust then see if you need more noise. That's what I did and I haven't wanted to do the filter yet.

On a kindof related note, I've still got about 11 months on the warranty. Do you have to fit a Lotus stage 1/2 or are you OK fitting a Larini without invalidating this? And I suppose the big question - does it have to be done by a "proper" dealer?

You can fit whatever exhaust you want but if you have any problems with it or any problems that can be attributed to it, you won't be able to claim off Lotus to get it fixed.

What sort of thing could be attributable if I was to say fit a Larini?
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick, but wonder what sort of risk I'd be taking.
Cheers.

Probably no risk, I fitted my Larini when it was stil under warranty. Say the exhaust burnt the rear clam somehow (unlikely on a 111R), you wouldn't get anything off Lotus because of that. If the std exhaust did it though, it's a warranty claim.

Right, got you.
Think I'll continue to save up for the Larini - take it you'd recommend it?

I'd recommend it for the K but I haven't heard the 111R one. If it's anything like mine it'll be great

Simon's sounds great, followed him up Braemar/Glenshee/Cairn-o-Mount and my larini is the cows cock too. Find a tunnel and it all becomes clear......
From SELC*CK I have read that there have been fitting problems with some. Advantage of a new car s that the bolt will just be seized as opposed to welded on.
Larini took me about 3 1/2 hours, 2 1/2 getting the old one out, complete with Cat stuck on through a hole built for just the exhaust.....
good job fiberglass flexes....
