Have you tried A Plan? Just renewed mine and cut the Elephant renewal quote by approx 50%!!!!
A Plan are brokers so might be able to give you some advise/point you in right direction.
Don't give up, it'll all come good.

More than halved mine too! Excellent service too - they'll talk you 2 or 3 policies before letting you decide the right one for you!

I would take legal advise on this mate. Graham111s & Greg have / will have good advise.

Sorry to hear your woes. Insurance company sucks.

Thanks guys. Yet again, you're a fantastic bunch and really helping to cheer me up! :thumbsup

Stuart, that's interesting the difference in your quotes with the NCB gone and the points added. I'll give Chris Knott / A-Plan /etc a try. Probably means I'll be steering clear of the track until I can go with a company that does trackdays again though.

I'll be going from 2 years NCB / 0 points / 0 claims (£797) to 0 years NCB / 0 points / 1 unsettled disputed claim, so hopefully shouldn't be too bad. Will get phoning around tomorrow and I'm off to see Graeme at MMC on Wednesday or Thursday. He's been really good btw - he had heard about my accident and has offered loads of good advice and willing to do me a good deal to get me in another one. I've also been looking through the private ads though.

Thanks again guys!
:D

P.S. Does my NCB counting start again as soon as I get a new policy with someone else? Or does it start from when they settle the dispute and decide whose fault it was? What happens if I win the dispute (which I should, obviously, from all my evidence!) and then get given my 2 years NCB back again? Do they add that on again?

I've made so many friends through owning that car, did so many things I never would have done before, and it was a big part of my life. Things just won't be the same if I don't get another.
well come to world right now.
crashed. put money into house.
trying to sort out what to spend on doing up the house (not enuff money!)
But... am sooo missing the whole elise ownership with you guys and track days and runs and just going out for a drive at a weekend.
Big part of my life that I loved missing.
Cant see me getting into an elise for a while coz of the house needing attention.
Just hoping it works out in the end.

I know you'll definitely get an Elise again one day Phil! :thumbsup It sounds like you made the right decision for that time in your life, and it'll maybe just take a little bit longer to get back in another Elise.

Just been doing a few online quotes and it's not all bad news! I forgot that when I first got my Elise, I put my mum on as an additional driver and it brought the quote down by about £350. Just done that again and it's had the same impact. Yay! Nice one mum! :D

My understanding is if you start a new policy it is totally different so your no claims starts a fresh .

When I had an accident that was not my fault I had to recover my excess before they would give me my no claims back . Like yourself I was near the start of the policy so it was no problem when it took a few months to sort out. I used the legal protection to recover it. When I got insurance again thats alll they were interested in .

I also had an accident on a different free policy when I bought a new car , the no claims was dormant for two years and was totally unaffected .

When I was into motorbikes I was told even if you do have a prang you do not always loose all your no claims bonus . I had 4 years which would have gone down to two as another accident  was settled 75/25 . I discovered that after it had all lapsed .

Hope you get it all sorted soon Dezzy.

In my opinion if you are not at fault you are always better off claiming directly against the other party's insurance and leave yours out of it.

Then suspend your policy while the procedure takes place (no point it ticking down if they aren't covering anything).

Don't forget to SORN the car and cash in the tax disc.

Maybe not too late to take this approach now - it will certainly require the other side to accept responsibility, but the two insurance companies between them might stitch you up 50/50 or something otherwise.

Cheers,
Robin

If you move your policy now while the claims still being disputed then you'll be back to 0 NCB and it'll start clocking up from there. Once you get it sorted out though they'll give you the 2 years NCB and refund the extra you've had to pay

Stuart, thank you so much for the Chris Knott recommendation!

I tried A-Plan, and they were coming out around the £3000 - £4000 mark! Admiral could go down to £1200 if I added my mum on.

Chris Knott - £1039, and it's actually with Highway Insurance, who my current claim is with!! So, it's went from £800 to just over £1000 with the same insurers when dropping from 2years NCB to 0 years NCB and having an outstanding claim in progress. Yay! :D

Thanks again for the recommendation mate! I f***ing love Chris Knott!

:thumbsup for Graeme at MMC who I've just spent most of the afternoon with. Couple of test drives (great day for it) and some good deals on offer. Got a bit of thinking to do now, but will hopefully be back in a Lotus soon! 8) :D
