East Fortune (day after thread)
GT3 was Greig M's I think - he's still learning the car so lot more pace to come.
Same can be true for the big Liners.. EF still a pretty short track and straight pace dicated by turn exit speed - especially before Linton and coming out of the Snake befor entering the Esses.
Glad you had a good time guys on Saturday - who was the S1 and ExigeR drivers on Sunday??
Had my shaekdown of the big Esprit yesterday - first time out - took a lot of getting used to - especially rear visibility so apologies if I held anyone up but should have tried it from where I was sitting with lots of buzzy fwd cars shooting by.
Was always playing catching 4 pace - only getting on track by 1pm - and was still about 2-4 secs off the pace by the end depending how many gear changes I missed and how much I was over-braking horribly - playing with the b/bias may be needed. G/box a mare and by the end I couldn't get her into second at all...
She was also underboosting to only 0.6 bar on max setting so she's going into Falkland for some investigation - at 320_bhp @ 1 bar there shouldn't have been much on track as fast straight line.. at 0.6 bar I estimate at best she was a putting out 260bhp and a shed-load less torque - leaky gasket somewhere may be to blame..
On the upside - all gauges looked good, she handled nice once I got some temps into the A032Rs.. which took a good while mind.. brakes mighty, little roll as you'd imagine.. looking up at Exige owners as they zip by an interesting experience..
Initially kept trying to drive her like m M - rwd but front engined and quickly found out that you have to adapt the driving style.. also kept messing up by heel-toeing which wasn't helping the bad gear change..
A bit of a saga yesterday but came through it.. unscathed..

Preparing for take-off.. systems check..

Hey - no problems with him being slow - it was the sporadic mirror use that got on the thruppenies. I saw it blowing some serious smoke at stages too, so figured he was running some boost....BigD wrote:
The guy in the silver R34 admitted to not being that quick. Mind you if my car was worth £40k+ I'd be taking it slightly easier. I haven't a clue what bhp he is running but I suspect not alot.
Still, no real hassles at all. He was a mile better than that bloody TVR Chimera or the Renault formation camera team!

Yup that's the one - sounded very very nice and wasn't rolling at allAndy G wrote:I think the S2 was mine, with Exige wheels on? Nearly got evicted for the noise though! Its was peaking at 104db at 4.5k rpm!Lazydonkey wrote:Managed to do a fair bit of SE spotting from the edge of the track, but who was driving the yellow S1 exige (with R decal) and the tricked up red s2?
Both were looking and sounding gorgeous![]()
Genius outing, but once the adrenalin wore off, i was in tatters.

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

If you look at the attendees list above there were 3 Skylines.
Donald Watt / Susan Brougham Nissan Skyline 2600 400 Intermediate Confirmed
Roger Blake Nissan Skyline 2600cc 575 Intermediate Confirmed
Steven & Kathleen Dempster Nissan R34 2600 *** Novice Confirmed
Rog did not attend and sold his slot as his engine is away being rebuilt. My entry was 400bhp but not quite running that due to boost issues. And Steve, Silver R34, did not enter his bhp.

Yep, I concur, it happens alot at knockhill and is my pet hate.Shug wrote:Like I say, slow I have no problem with - obstruction, I do.Sanjoy wrote:He could have pushed his R34 like the bloke in the Tuscan. Fine line and all that.

I was paranoid when Susan was out in my car and tried to make sure she didn't hold anyone up when doing the first couple of sessions. Hope she didn't get in anyones way but seemd absolutely fine when I was out with her.

Agree with Shug, both Skylines were great with me. Older Porsche and TVR Chimera were the only hold ups, and a modified Type R civic, but at least he had a flame show to keep me happyBigD wrote:Yep, I concur, it happens alot at knockhill and is my pet hate.Shug wrote:Like I say, slow I have no problem with - obstruction, I do.Sanjoy wrote:He could have pushed his R34 like the bloke in the Tuscan. I should say actually that I though all the SE group were great at keeping watch for quicker cars. Good effort chaps

Lawrence wrote:Gordon wroteWhat speed were you doing at entry? In the sprints of course we would be staionary at the concrete pit lane so your speed there would be added to any accleration speed. with hindsight I perhaps should say it was an 80 plus corner(i heard a tale that Lawrence said it could be taken flat and wanted to try it) Not in my car it cant!!!!
Good job we didn't try to take it flat!

I'd have to check the vid but a good exit from the pit complex was around 50 then nudging the limiter in 3rd (90 mph) before braking for that corner...
Still on cam at exit but probably in the 70's rather than 80's.
Cheers,

Orange Exige didn't get the chance to open all the way - I never came across it on track, but Pauline was saying that the noise police were threatening to kick them off altogether if they used full revs.
Shame - looked very tidy. Loved the 4-pot calipers glinting through the front wheels and the Honda install was particularly neat.
