I'll only buy it once they iron out the toaster issues...

Meanwhile it has emerged that all the first batch of iPhones have also been built without any microphones being installed. This was not discovered until all of them had been sent to the shops as no one had thought to use one to make a call.

I have an XDA-exec and other than the house brick dimentions I really like it, I also have an MP3 player only 1gb but I have no need to put my entire collection of music on it(and I only use it when running/cycling , so what would I gain from an Iphone ? i ask because I have had the phone more than a year so new phone time

Update:

Iphone goes on sale at 6pm on 9th Nov. Some of our stores are open until midnight to cope with the demand. I'll be on store support until midnight, so there'll be much late night dossing about and overtime!

2 models, 8GB and 16GB, $300 & $400 respectively. Was going to have myself the 16GB but they were all sold out. Turns out that you can order via Apple online in the UK for £270  £70 more than the US - barstewards. Oh well, will stick with my Zune meantime - no touch screen but it is 30GB and cost just over £100 earlier this year. Was a godsend on the plane when the inflight entertainment was bust. You should've just found a Walmart - they had stacks of them...

We've got em in store now. Pretty snazzy, but TBH I can sell you an Archos player that does everything it does with 10x (yes ten times) the capacity of the biggest Touch for £299.

The fanboys love 'em though

Ross

I also tried Walmart but they didn't have any (this is for the iTouch remember). I have a mate who is in California on holiday at the mo' so he is on the look out for one for me.

I know that there are better and cheaper alternatives, but as you say the fanboys love 'em. I kind of made a slight mistake earlier in the year buying a Zune. I think it is great and at the time, was miles better and cheaper than the equivalent ipod. However, I have found that add-ons are either extremely expenses or crappy. This is where the iPod and presumably the iTouch/iPhone will win out - there will be loads of add-ons.

The other thing was I know that if I don't like it or end up not using it, I could eBay for probably more than I buy it for. Sorry, I know that's not helping your business

I was on holiday in Orlando and after 5 visits to the Apple store in Florida Mall I got the 16GB Ipod Touch. Brought some back for mates and it worked out at about £65 saving on the UK price.
Also bought and hacked and iphone and it works fine (sim free any network) however future software upgrades will have to wait till the hack is out for them, which just means declining the option to upgrade in itunes when it's connected. Its simple to hack the iphone at the moment (firmware 1.1.1 and below). We will have to wait and see when new software comes out how long it takes to hack.
BTW believe the hype, the touch is great for surfing, music , video etc and the phone is even better. Cameras sh*te though.
