Folks, just to point out. This is an open website - all the forums are viewable to non members, barring Meets. If you discuss anything in the forums, please be aware that anybody can read it.

This is a situation to encourage new members - we've had the discussion before, but to summarise, we feel that people will be more incentivised to join if they can see the banter first. Like all groups/clubs/forums we need constant new members or it stagnates and dies off.

So, if you've got anything to discuss that you wouldn't want to do with a megaphone in the middle of George Square, be aware that the meets section is the only members-only bit of the site. If you want us to create another forum for members-only discussions which don't revolve around meeting details & runs, let me or Simon know and we'll do it, if there's the interest.

Nope, can't confirm it as we currently have no access to the server only the admin section that comes with phpbb. Assuming we eventually (once I get my finger out) move to one of your servers, we can sort all that out. I'll try and get on with it soon

I would hypothsise that it would be handy for photoshoots of trackdays etc were not accesible to the general public - for those members that may have warranties and the like. i guess if plates are blurred, woud be fine for public sections.

Hypothetically...

Chaps, for your info, the Lotus 7 Club forum "blatchat" recently became read-only, you now have to be a club member to post

This met with outrage, the Club gave their reasons as keeping a control on who posts, and therefore keeping their asses outta court wrt libellous comments....

I know of one company who sell "sports exhausts" trying to default as the owner had used the car on track.

I'm pretty sure that there was something about Lotus trying to wriggle out of warrenty claims for the same reason, althought that could just be urban legend.

The one thing that might have an impact is the use of the cars on track when coming to trade them in? Saying that on S2 onwards the ECU logs max road speed and engine speed as well as a few other things as well IIRC.
