Police seize 'boy racer' vehicles

Fife Police officers are taking action against dangerous drivers
Police in Fife have seized 13 vehicles and issued more than 200 warnings in the battle against 'boy racers'.
The force claims that, one year after anti-social behaviour laws were introduced, it is using new legislation more than any other force in Scotland.

The measures were taken against driving which had caused "alarm, distress and annoyance", a spokesman said.

The seafront esplanade in Kirkcaldy was highlighted as one area where young drivers with modified cars gathered.

Elderly residents living nearby had complained to police that the drivers have been racing or cruising and playing loud music late at night.

One of the guys at work lives in Kirkaldy and has been stopped in his Golf ~5 times for a "what are you doing at this time of night" check (Going home mr plod!) and a cursory roadside MOT so beware!

thought they neeed a reason for stoppnig ?

I used to go for midnight drives round central london and get pulled on occasion in the ring of steel. Think they thought I was scuffing the tyres ...

Normally I'd say torch the twats, but as an owner of a attention seeking car with a rather loud exhaust I'd say its a bit of a slipperly slope.

WE know we aren't boy racers but the general public might not see it that way as we "make progress" around the roads of the UK in our wee plastic cars.

Remember the infamous Aberdeen roadblock ? :(

Apparently not. I thought that too. We have had a few guys here pulled over driving home at 3am after work for no reason.

Furry muff, I would stop at that time for a marked car but not unmarked.

Had a two blokes in a beemer on marlybone road try to flag me down on a night run, claiming that I lef the petrol cap off and petrol was coming out, reached out and checked it was there then dropped the hammer...

I've been stopped quite a few times too in the early hours whilst at work and on my way home.

It's quite fun when I'm going between sites as the walk up to me as I sit in the car dress from top to toe in bright orange. Oddly enough I've never been asked if I'm a cat burgular :D

I dont have a problem with getting stopped late at night by the cops in marked vehicles , it shows they are doing their job but .

Several years ago I was driving home from work at 3am in my Fiat Punto through a bad area of Glasgow and a pair of cap wearing neds in a 306 pulled up very close behind me and started driving aggressively. I decided it was not in my interest to go straight home so took a strange route and they followed. I tried to get the hell away and increased the speed and a chase started . I will admit I was wetting myself and drove as fast as I could to the nearest petrol station thinking if I get a kicking it will be on CCTV . When I stopped the passenger Ned ran forward and stuck his warrant card against the window. Doh ! Cut a long story short I was advised "you did not live in the Bronx!" Looking back it was two really young cops who made a mistake.LOL

The cars being seized like this is a touch worrying, the law doesn't require it to be neds in Saxos, just anyone who is considered to be anti social, no need for any evidence, or a costly trial, just a Policeman acting as judge and jury, you get a warning and then the next time that they do not like your behaviour they take your car away. Not hard to see that some could consider the antics of SE to be anti social.

Rant mode off.

Yup, thin end of the police state, car hating, natzi bstards, wedge... IMO

A nice Sunday drive along deeside is considered anti-social by some and reported to the coppers...
