How did this post get away without a back hander then?!????????????

U all loved the speed then.....
nice find indeed !!!!
Right place.... Right time..... No problem.....

There's a big difference between deserted motorways and built up areas & if you ever come on an SE run, you'll note that we religiously slow down for the 30 signs

Just because you guys are slowing down for 30 means sh*t. Many have admitted to all sorts of speed on "rural" roads , still breaking the limit.

Breaking the law is breaking the law there aint no good way to do it . I got caught , you guys didnt . what puts anyone in the position to tell me i am in the wrong when they have commited the same offences ?

I could argue how dangerous it would be travelling at 90mph on a backroad , no doubt testing the lotus's grip to the max on corners when there will always be occasional traffic comming the opposite direction ?

now that could be fatal......

so effectively what some of you are saying is that you are really just better at breaking the law than I am ?

We never claim to be saints but by slowing down for 30 zones we try not to attract attention to ourselves

I don't think anyone had a go at you for going over 30 driving like a prat and bringing unneeded attention to yourself yes we did have a go

As to backroads yes alot of us drive to faster then 60mph there and maybe some of us too fast for the conditions but you will find that when you get to the track that is where we really go for it as those of us that do the trackdays know the best place for really going for it is on the track which is why we have all had a visit to the kitty litter. And the track is way more fun. Also if someone does drive like a prat on road runs then they are not welcome back.

Anyway i digress have you done a trackday yet just out of curiosity?

I'm sorry but that's a complete load of bollocks.... The risks of speeding through a built up area are completely different to a country road. And i refer to my previous comments of right place, right time....

And as for testing the lotus's grip to the max on the corners, yes i do that whenever i can. It's a place you should visit called knockhill. And they have a speed limit in the PIT LANE at a MOTORSPORT EVENT because there are PEOPLE around.... Just like built up areas......

No idea about your gearbox problem, but on a track you get everything up to temp so it is actually probably way less stress on your car then booting it from cold

But come along to a trackday you would be welcome and this would more then likely never be mentioned. The best would be taking your car on track then you might quickly see why booting it round town is a bit pointless

I agree with what you say above.... I knowingly break the law when I drive my car on the backroads. And yes you are right there is the possibility of a car on the wrong side of the road, or parked just after a blind bend etc etc.....

I think you have been tarred with the same brush as the nerd boy racers who put body kits on the Novas.. hence the reaction from some of us on here. I understand exactly how much fun it is to have a play, but have managed to resist temptation to show off where there are pedestrians.

One thing I will say about the road runs... I have noticed a worrying trend from some on here, new and experianced alike, to habitually cross the white line, even if they think it is clear ahead and can stick to there own side if they wanted to.. thats when you are going to get bitten. It only takes on car traveling at TUTspeed the other direction doing the same and were head on. I am not saying I have never done it, I just try not to... if I need to cross the line to keep up with the car in front, I'm going to fast in my opinion..

good point from j33ama above and I think we should acknowledge that.
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

nothing to do with warming the car up ,design failure plus more the fact that lotus told me the car was not designed to be ragged around to any degree , and that I should not be redlining at anytime . despite selling the car on the fact its a "track based road car " and blatantly telling you in the manual that the occasion burst to 8500rpm is acceptable.

anyway thats another story , Id be to scared to ragg it on the track , dont have any warranty now and was previously quoted almost 5 k for new gearbox before labour !

LOL!! I rag my k series every day - you must have a 'yota lump

<BG>

I dont mean to sound like a complete self righious c0ck either - i was driving cossies at 17 and used to put make the dump valve go pssshhhht when passing pedestrians  Looking back, i was a w@nker & i know it

I was a marked man in the cossie for a long time out in east lothian, so much so, i carried insurance certificates whenever i drove the car  but i've learned many a lesson in my cars, sometimes the hard way. I'm just trying to offer some friendly advice.

Cheers,

Steve
