This is a bit of an unusual one!
One of my mates is a rally driver, and is looking for a navigator for next year. He has had various sucesses over the past few years, and is now looking at trying to get a high finishing place in next year's Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship. There will be 6 - 8 rallies throughout the year. No previous experience required.

If you fancy a go at navigating, PM or email me for further details.

If you fancy a go at being strapped into a very old shopping car with a big engine while a complete nutter throws it at the scenery and you can read a map while upside down in a tree then give me a shout
No thanks i'll give it a miss

The navigator has to pay entry fees etc do they not? Could be quite expensive but really good fun I'd imagine.

Mmh tempting . Your mate looks quite quick.
Did some rallying and navigating many years ago ( in the 80's !! )
Never did full pace note stuff though - just stage notes.
What level are the rallys he's doing clubman/national?, not sure of MSA licence requirements, think you have to compete for a number of events to get National licence.

Speedy would make you pay halfers on everything, even his lunch! But he would be good to navigate for. I've been crew for him before, making sure his wheels stayed on at Crail. Was Hambo not spannering for him at Mull? Car looked a bit too firm set up for Mull, did he adjust the setup? Still nice to see the new car in action, a hell of a lot nicer than the old one and he does really well on his budget. Looks to have spent quite a bit since the last time. I think a low budget for Mull is around £1200 so £600 each (entry, tyres, fuel, accomodation, after rally drinking) just don't take a summer holiday.

Think you need a National B, if your old liscence has expired you may have to do a BARS test ~ £300

Think that's for driving only, just a National B for Nav IIRC. The BARS test is a bit of a joke anyway IMVHO.

Hi everyone.
Thanks First of all Dom for sticking the thread up.
My name is Mark Runciman(Speedy) and Have been competing in Rallies For twenty yrs and driving for the last 5 yrs.
Yes i am looking for someone to sit with me on this years championship as i think i have a realistic chance of finishing top 3 in the championship if not winning it.
What am i looking for?
Somebody who is up for a laugh but is willing to put the time and effort into this when required. Experince is not essiantioal but can help but i have done the events enough that i know them reasonably well.
Yes i licence is required but its a Nat B navigotors licence. About £38 in cost.
The events i do are all tarmac and are run on mostly airfields and some militery bases. Events are normally one day events but may require an overnight stay. 3 events are based north of England. They range from 45 to 110 mile events with stages ranging from 3 miles up to 22 miles in length.
Cost per event vary depending on events. I will cover all prep and running costs of the car incl fuel and tyres plus keeping the service crew fed and watered. The codriver if possiable would be to cover entry fees these are between £200 and £300 plus there own expenses. yes that is alot but my cost are double per even or more.
The car has just had a major upgrade and is now very quick and getting quicker as i get use to it so there will be no running around at the back. it will be Pedel to the metal from the word go.
If you have any questions then please do not hesite to ask as i will be more than happy to answer.
Hope this answers a few questions you all may have.
Thanks for your time.
Mark(Speedy)
