Elise is no more...Pics on page 3, New pics page 7.

Post by Ricky_111R » Thu Jan 10, 2008 5:10 pm

Well today i decided to take a drive on the country roads, maybe not the best idea as it was pretty wet, but thought id go out anyway.

Roads werent as water logged as i thought they would be so was a nice relaxing drive..... up until i neared Dundee(A92 Just near Wormit turn off/ few miles past Kilmany), i hit a huge amount of standing water(both lanes were severely water logged, a drain had burst it turns out, which wasnt helped by the amount of rain).

My car pulled sharply into the oncoming lane, so i tried to turn back into my own lane, this just caused the car to aquaplane, next thing i know the car is one way then the other(still facing straight), then it nose dives for the near side verge, smashes into the verge(40-50ish mph), flips over, is thrown back onto the road and brung to a hault on its "roof".

I quickly released my seat belt and pulled myself from the wreckage, only to see the state of my car, what a mess, bits of body everywhere, half the car actually missing.

Car was strewn across both lanes (apologies to anybody who was delayed as it took a while to get it moved).

Thankfully i walked away with just a few cuts, aches and pains.

Very thankful to all people that got out and helped me, and ofcourse to the emergency services who were quickly on scene.

I will try get pictures up later.

Ricky

You must be absolutely in shock, just relax for the next few days and let the insurance sort it out. Hope your doing OK, even though you have come through with no injuries, sounds like you must have got a hell of a fright in that kind of smash.

Cheers guys. Yeah was in major shock for a while, Police didnt think i should have walked away from it from how badly smashed the car was, just greatful im okay and that it didnt hit anybody else.

End of the day the car is only a car.

As Shug says take care, would hate to see anybody else do the same.

Maybe too early for you to think about it, and if it is, then ignore. Are you going to get another Elise? Jump back on the bike and all that...

Gary.

Glad you are still in one piece and (relatively) undamaged enough to post on here!!

Scary accident and you're right - a car is just a car and easily replaced.

Be careful out there folks

Put it behind at least for tomorrow, try and relax and start dreaming of your next motor when Insurance pays out.

Cheers guys. Gary tbh mate, think this might be the end of my quick car days, second smash in a performance car that ive been lucky enough to walk away from when i shouldnt have(1st time was'nt my fault tho).

Dunno tho, was contemplating an Elise SC this year so never know that might still happen.
