Elise 111R at Harry Fairbairn Giffnock

Post by mrahead » Sun Jan 13, 2008 9:19 pm

Harry Fairbairn have just got an April 04 111R in. It has just arrived and currently does not have registration plates on it.

It is a dark metallic blue colour and has covered 20,000 miles.

It looks like a nice car but with the rain today it was difficult to tell.

One thing however is puzzling me. The front airdam has white paint either side of the air intake, each band is about 4 inches wide.

Is this normal, or has the car originally had white stripes over the bonnet ?

They are currently asking £18995 is that a reasonable price ?

thanks in advance for any info.

Alan

Poor taste was though :)

Sounds like a reasonable price depending on condition and spec I suppose.

Arranged a trip to have a look at the Elise Today. Not too impressed :(

Car was boxed in and not available for a test drive. The car was absolutely filthy and the salesman was more interested in giving me an insulting trade in price for my scooby.

The Elise looks like it needs immediate pads and tyres to be useable.

It is a touring and I think it might also have air conditioning as there is a small * button at the heater controls.

Dealer has offered me a test drive at the weekend but said that if I was trading in my scooby the car would be as is. He accepted that my scooby was in exceptional condition and did not fit the book price so I would be better to sell privately. If it was a cash deal the brakes and tyres would be sorted out along with road tax.

anyway here is a pic of those strange white bits !
The car also had an ECURIE ECOSSE sticker under te 111R decal. I don't know if that is significant or not.

apologies for poor quality as it is off my phone.

Is it painted on or vinyl applied?
Could possibly be coloured wing protectors.. though am sure they were only available in clear plastic.

The white may be to emulate the colours of E. Ecosse race team colours.

Tut and Del are right - its a buyers market and there will be lots of private cars coming on the market soon .. dare I say it at reduced price once the supercharged elise comes along... It happened with the exige afterall.

Yeah agreed!

if your Scooby is mint, get it on Pistonheads, and Autotrader, sold within a few weeks, during that time you cherry pick your Elise. Make sure you are prepared to travel for the right one!

Feel like I'm in a Gareth mood. Happy to keep her, but private sale will open up other (Lotus) ideas. But all dependant on a sale...

Can't miss out on TT08
