Anyone know where I can source a set of uprated (grade 10.9) bolts as fitted by Lotus on LSS/A048 Elises? I tried MMC but they had no idea what I was talking about and went off to ask Lotus... I wonder if they will return the call this time
Thanks

bolt upgrade?
Be interested in what you find out.
Unless it's something that's been incorporated in later runs of the cars.

Lotus has confirmed they supply 10.9 as well as the standard 8.8 grade bolts, so just ordered a couple of sets from MMC. I think I've taken the details down correctly - 2 no. M10x40 and 2 no. M10x60 for the fronts and 4 no. M10x50 for the rears. I'll confirm the price when I pick them up.
There have been quite a few failures of the standard bolts on VXs running A048 on track. Although I think it is probably more a case of the bolts not being properly torqued up after having the camber adjusted, rather than an inherent weakness in the bolts.
I prefer to always replace with new bolts when dismantling the suspension, so it seemed sensible to order the stronger 10.9 bolt. I'll need to confirm the torque setting for the new bolts, but iirc it is around 68Nm rather than the 45Nm for the standard bolts.

It worked out at less than £1.50 per bolt. Under £20 for 2 full sets.

My Exige has the upgraded toelinks for this. Might be an interesting retrofit...
