Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?

Post by Brian J » Sat Feb 16, 2008 6:35 pm

Any recommendations for this in Glasgow area - everyone goes for CLCM in Edinburgh - but cannot recall anywhere in the West?

Whacked the left hand bollard at KH chicane with left front - the car is OK in a straight line or at road speeds but definitely not right cornering at track speeds :(

Never used them but have read some positive reviews
Thanks - did use them with original Elise but wasn't sure about them for geo - but they do re-build rally cars.

Drivers would be even more convenient.

I went to Drivers for my geo. My car felt great when I got it back and i think it was only £30 or £40.

Have just picked my car up from Drivers in Glasgow.
I would advise that you research and decide what toe and camber settings you want them to setup.
A good start is here: http://wiki.seloc.org/a/Geo_Setups

In addition (and this is probably quite important) the Elise (certainly the S1) needs camber shims to add positive camber. Alternativley you can remove shims to add negative camber (1mm of shim equates to 0.3deg). Drivers do not supply or have stock of these shims.

When I dropped my car in 1st time round they could only adjust toe and take camber measurements. I had to then order the necesssary camber shims from Elise parts to get to the camber settings I wanted.

When these arrived I took my car back in and they finished the setup.

Progrip gets my vote, good service at a good price. If I remember correctly it cost me about £75

Managed to get along to Pro Grip today, geo wasn't too badly out. Rear toe and thrust angles were the worst. Car feels much more stable now and no longer tramlines like buggery.

Only cost £52 :D

Did you just go with manual settings kenny ? John's hoping to squeeze me in this Saturday morning. He mentioned that for many models he does (Scooby's/evo's)there is an acknowledged fast/road track set up but said he didn't have such a thing for elises or exiges.
