Luke 4 Point Harness

Post by LittleMorvy » Sat May 03, 2008 7:59 pm

Would these work in my car?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... TQ:GB:1123

I dont know much about harnesses or what to get, was just tempted by the price the guy says he would take £150 for them but might be able to get him to go a bit cheaper, advice would be great, dont want to go getting something that wont fit or isnt as good as I could get elsewhere.

Dunno about new cars but you will probably need a harness bar to go with them.

Second hand harnesses don't sound all that clever though.... :?

Morvern

I have Lukes in my car, and they are a good belt. The ones that you are looking at are virtually new, so should be no problem.

However you will have to bolt in a harness bar for them to mount on.

Have you considered a CG lock?

You can't tell from the picture or the description whether they are for a two/single seater or saloon. Saloon car harnesses would be no use as the shoulder straps would be far too long, so you need to check that. You need to check if they are bolt in or wrap round. Most people recommend that you have slotted seats for wrap rounds, which I can understand. In the picture I think you can see a clip-on type of fixing. I'm not too sure if that is suitable for an elise. Also they appear to be 2 inch with 3 inch lap spreader bits. Nowt wrong with that, just make sure you know what you are getting.

With regards to buying second hand, that's what I did, but Rich is right to point out that you should be wary when buying used safety equipment.

I might be looking to flog my S2 harness bar and a willian's Silverston harness (valid for competition until end 2009).

FYI - The willians silverston are the ones with shoulder strap adjusters so that you can lean forward at junctions.

PM me if your interested.

My brand new Sabelt harnesses only cost £110 each from ebay about a year ago. - not really that much more expensive.
