am i on fire....
My car has a burning plastic smell - seems worse when the window's down. Any suggestions?

Yes,
(1) You have lost or useless heatshield and the GF bulkhead is slowly melting from the heat of the exhaust. It's worse when the window is down because the air is sucked out of the window into the vacuum outside.
If you clear everything out from behind the seats and remove the shopping net then go for a reasonably hard drive, with window closed. When you stop, put your hand on the bulkhead behind the seats, right above the metal work - if it's hot to the touch, that's your problem.
Check your heatshield and bulkhead liner.
(2) One or both pipes into the back box have gone and are blowing hot gas onto the clam or the tail pipes are touching the clam.
Prey it's not (1) (engine out job to replace the liner).
