What the *beep*???

Post by Tom » Thu Jun 08, 2006 9:36 am

This thing seems to have started censoring itself. All sorts of words are going to *beep*. What the  ???

Dude - pay attention. It's been doing that for months (since Simon set up the censor) Dunno if he's gone mental and added any more, mind you...

Nothing's changed on my computer (at work) and I've not seen any *beeps* before today. and I do spend a bit of time on here  .
I'm confused, because now they're everywhere. :? :?

Just to check, the new sticky at the top of technical reads " *beep* tools ". Am trying to work out what might be censored from before the word tools. :?

Nah, sorry, I've just seen what you mean. Have checked the word censor and it appears that this is now a blanket thing across freeyabb - Simon hasn't added anything new....

Time to get fingers out and switch to the Pikey-Server, methinks....

Right folks - STFU right now. It seems that ANY swearing is breaking the T&C's of the host.... I've posted the host company asking about it, but let's not take the michael until it's sorted out....

All of a sudden, it's back to normal.....

Weird - just off to see if I've got an answer from the hosting company.

Right - the hosts installed a blanket censor. It appears to have been set to it's most 'Mary Whitehouse' setting on install, and they've already toned it down.

So nothing that we don't already censor should be affected. I was just concerned because I was reading some threads from forum owners who just had forums unilaterally locked after broaching T&C's.

Doesn't look likely for us though!

Okay folks, as you were.....
