Kames trackday question

I had considered asking this via PM but I was curious about what other people thought.

I believe that this year the days at Kames will be split in half, the first half having the morning and the second half having after lunch?

The question I was wanting to ask is can we do longer individual runs....say 15-20 laps or so rather than 3 to try to reduce the brutal cold/hot/cold cycle?
The reason I ask is that I know others have similar concerns as me.......
I realise this will increase the overall waiting time but think it will be easier on the car and as such is worth a try?

Kames was good fun last year the only thing that put me off as the format . It wasn't too bad time wise sitting and chatting but the mersolous thrashing of my car from cold played on my mind over the winter . Yes you could go slow but what is the point in that. More laps would be better, having said that it will still be very hard on the car . ( This is when a group seven would come in handy . )

Would imagine the options have been looked at in the past , maybe would can enlighten us ?

From what I have been told, after about 3-4 laps your tyres are about fecked, any longer and you would kill them... maybe...

I think that amount of laps is too much Mr.meatball. Too much standing around for the other drivers. Maybe extend it to 5 laps max? Would give a wee bit more track time but still not too long for people to stand around?

One of the best nights for track time last year was one of the evenings when there were only about 10 cars there. I think it's simply the number of cars that turn up that dictate the boredom/queueing. About 10 for evenings and about 20 for full day events seems about right to me.

I actually really enjoyed the first event . . . although we didn't get much track time we had loads of time for nattering, which is a big part of SE events IMHO.

It's a sprint track so runs should remain at normal sprint lengths.

20 laps would get boring very quickly, having just 3 laps gives a different excitement and buzz than just lapping endlessly.

Yup, if it's dry road tyres can go off in less than 3 laps. Kames is very hard on tyres.
Suggest stick to 3 or 4. More is possible if it's wet.

Also got to consider concentration level of the drivers, Kames is pretty intense compared to say KH...

Kames is a sprint track so treat it as a sprint track, trying to turn it into a mini trackday will only produce more accidents i.e 10laps in, tyres off, brakes cooked and a overconfident/cocky driver pushing for that little extra speed....

At kames the only place to leave the track without doing serious damage is the bottom corner, leaving the track at any other place will get painful very quickly

The key is to restrict the number of drivers rather than to change the format.

10 is ideal.

Average track driving puts 10 times more strains on cars when compared to normal road use...........

I didn't think Kames was particularly bad, maybe you need to learn to drive with some degree of mechanical sympathy. If ability is oot the windae you may as well try to have something going for you
