Brought back a lot of memories, this. Dug out my (35mm) pics from the trip, best ones are here:

And Gil's diary gives a great account...so glad he wrote it, and Tony published it:

Would love to do a Stelvio, but i get worried about car reliability when on a central scotland roadrun!

Great write up by Gil... :thumbsup

Great to read this again, it brings back so many memories of one of the best holidays of my life. I still have the road book, and one day will venture to Spain again in an Elise to do the route, albeit at a more leisurely pace!!!

Lisa and I have been sat in front of the PC chuckling and reminiscing for half an hour now :-)

I can feel an on-location reunion coming on. 2011 feels a bit soon...but 2021 is far too far away and in any case some of us may have surrendered our licenses by then!

We would LURVE to retrace the bulk of the trip, with all our good buddies...and of course with the kids in tow...spot the immediate problem there then...! Time to start saving for UJI-2, then...or an Evora (convertible version obviously).

The best trip for me was the year we did the Alps and Spain - 2003 I think? Not that 2001 wasn't good fun too, but 2003 was an epic trip ... if and when Paul stops organising the FF trips, we should probably do a similar tour instead.

What I would say is leave the kids behind - they're not interested!

Cheers,
Robin

Robin

I did 2002 but was the only S_E'r on it. I did not go on 2003, can not remember if you did, but 2004 was mostly you, I and John.

I did part of 2003 with Paul G. We both had seperate trips with the other halves and met up with Tony and co for 3 days before heading to the ring.

I agree. But Lisa does not. She won't leave them.

So it's either all four of us, or just me (unlikely!), or...2021 maybe ;-)

I think FF is a logical progression of Stelvio trips, as it happens...it was funny how we kept trying to get track time on the Stelvio hols (including the kart track at Chimay!!), you could almost see the French Frolics coming!

French Frolic trips with a detour to the mountains on route is obviously the way forwards.
