As said, the V's onwards are better for many reasons, however the main benefits being wider track and stronger engines. The IV's are known for crankwalk although it's a bit like saying the K series are known for head gaskets. If maintained right and monitored carefully, hideous financial doom can be avoided.

I doubt I'd buy one for £3k though - it's likely to be cheap for a reason, and as older cars become more affordable to more people, there are more examples out there where quality servicing and maintenance have been skipped.

Mine is running ok and it's sitting at 350BHP (frantically touches wood whilst typing

), but the running costs can be a bit sore at times - I still love the old girl though
