Just youthful, playful, exuberance.

Craig, Alan and myself had been playing around coming out of junctions and at hairpins on the slightly slippy roads, but if you are going to do that, you really should catch it. That is one of my favourite corners, so felt confident taking it sideways, but I probably was over ambitious and it bit me back.

As I said, that was no problem, but I should have reversed normally and not tried the usual KH/F1 routine where you have more width. However if I had got it right it would have spoilt Jen's photos, and I would not have to be Craig's bitch for a week.

Glad no one was hurt in this incident and you can all laugh.

But, what if someone was coming the other way at the time, perhaps with children on board, would this thread be different, or exist at all?

It was a low speed spin and he was either on the correct side of the road or in a bush. Even when he spun the car never crossed over to the wrong side of the road.

Understand what you mean Ross, but I know that road backwards and could see way ahead or I would not have even risked it. As Alan said, I never went off my side of the road until I went for a 180 turn which would have been quicker than reversing, and again we could see that nothing was coming.

So.. as mentioned above a completely open corner with perfect visibility, and as such posed no threat to the public and very little risk to David. I think SE in general has a very high standard of driving but more importantly are very considerate to others and as such would never put unnecessery risk when road driving.

Craig, very admirable that you are sticking up for your friend, but, there's no getting away from the fact that spinning on the public road is either down to lack of skill or not reading the road and conditions correctly, or a combination of both.

It sounds like a classic case of complacency... which can easily lead to mistakes, which in this case it did.

Who said he is just defending his friend though.

I feel pretty confident if you ask any of the people who were "Actually There" they would all argue that what he did was not dangerous, you have to remember, Tut has children to preach to, if he was to do stupid stuff on the road then what lessons would he be able to teach.

You maybe need to lighten up a bit, roads are dangerous places but there isn't really a member on this forum who does not show them the respect they deserve. That doesn't mean you cannot still have some fun with them. Hence the topic about trying to find somewhere that we can all p*ss about at in the snow. Fingers crossed we get some.

I couldn't understand driving and not enjoying the roads. Maybe what dad did was a little stupid, but do you really think he would have done it had there been a car coming, or if it was going to put anyone in danger. If so you probably don't know him all that well.

So I would say we leave it to those who were present to decide if it was safe harmless fun or as you say dangerous, unskilled driving with a lack of respect for the conditions and we can just go with the majority.
