prices of elises in europe

Post by bigdek » Wed Dec 02, 2009 8:37 pm

Do elises sell for more in europe ?

stuck my wife s2 on pistonheads and within 24 hrs a trader from belgium tells me he is buying it and is coming tomorrow to collect it .

its a 51 plate s2 with a gullwing roof . hes paying the full 10995 asking price. which i think is a fair price.

can there be a good profit for him in this . flying over , staying overnight in hotel and driving back ?

just wondering

A large percentage of our cars are going across to Europe with no quibbling over the asking price. There seems to be a shortage over there and they are prepared to pay for the conversion to LHD.

When I bought N3 which is LHD, I was offered 60% more than I paid the next day.

I sold my Exige to a private buyer from Germany for a price I reckoned was really right at the top end of what I could get for a 2005 car. He thought a dealer in Germany would ask 10K Euros more for the same car  Good deal for both of us then :D

I think a lot of this is to do with the parity between the pound and euro. For them buying cars here has never been so cheap, means that what was expensive before and therefore not viable is now within reach. Good for us when selling as it opens up a huge potential market which previously wasn't there.
