Bad news - Brian Jamieson

Post by colin adams » Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:10 pm

Since Brian was a regular at so many events I thought people might like to know.

Unfortunately I just found out that Brian passed away last Monday. He had been suffering from bowel cancer and had an operation last week but complications set in over the weekend. Many of you will remember Brian who had various Elises and Nobles over the years and was most recently to be seen in a blue Exige. He was the Company Secretary for Scottish Enterprise for the last 14 years and was due to retire in the summer.

Brian was one of life's real gentlemen, always willing to led a hand and a true enthusiast, I remember him introducing me to the group way back when I came back to Scotland.

Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings.

Oh no. Lost count of the amount of times that I've ran into Brian at meets and KH trackdays - as you say, just the most complete gentleman you could ever hope to meet. Never passed you by and always had a good five minute conversation with him about nothing in particular any time our paths crossed. Lovely, lovely man.

Feeling slightly numb actually.

Pass my condolences on to his wonderful wife and all the family.

Stunned. Another real gem lost to us...

This is unbelievable. I had no idea that he was ill, I was only speaking to him just over a week ago when I was thinking of going to KH.

He was one of the nicest and most generous guys you would ever meet, came to all of the tuttowers, and always sent me a case of champagne or several cases of wine beforehand and flowers for Verian.

I had warning of Lawrence, but this is completely out of the blue and upset me more than I can say.

J*sus wept.

Brian was a true gentleman - first met him at a HM day a few years back. I accused him of being Tut  I actually can't believe this. What a horrible, horrible thing.

Brutal news

Always made you laugh, was always smiling, and more often than not did the trackday/evening in his suit, fresh from the office, earning him the nickname of the gentleman racer :thumbsup

such sad news.

Brian was one of the characters of SE, and it was a pleasure to see his smiling face in the pitlane at KH. He always made time to have a blether and his enthusiasm was infectious.

He will be sadly missed.

Neil.

God what sad sad news.

My over-riding memory of Brian came when i did a Walshy day at Crail with my ex's business partner, McApe and Brian. I didn't know the ape at that point, and I'd never met the Welshman before so I'd already raised more than a few eyebrows within the first 10 mins of arriving at Crail....but the biggest surprise was yet to come.

As we stood about waiting for the final participant to arrive, we were all aware of a distant exhaust note getting progressively louder until a blue noble burst into view and rocketed towards the entrance to the airfield. As the dust settled, and he parked the car I had no idea to expect of the driver, but i think my jaw hit the floor when Brian bounded out, grinning from ear to ear, dressed in immaculately pressed chino's, shirt, tie, round neck jumper and a pair of bright blue Sparco racing boots.

He then spent the day throwing his (increasingly broken) Noble around the course with child like enthusiasm, generously and tirelessly offering passenger rides and advice to two people he'd only met that morning as if we'd known him for years.

As others have said Brian was a true gent, he never failed to give me a warm welcome whenever we met, and never failed to remember my name.......no mean feat when you consider how many people he knows through SE and how infrequently we met.

What a sad loss to the world - my thoughts go out to all his friends and family.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?
