Re: Audi TT service
Bloody hell!!!
It's only happened to me once - When I nuked the clutch on my old Alfa 156 a few years back...
Called the nearest garage (car was not driveable - I'd managed to shear the friction plate), and they guesstimated £1200...On a car worth £1500-1800...Weren't keen to do it, either. Pig of a job.
In the end, my brother in-law took pity, and did it in his drive on axle stands - Should be an engine/box out job, but he managed to drop the front subframe, and wiggle the box out the NSF wheel arch. £250 in parts...And took 10 hours...! (Plus all the beer I had to buy him
)
You can certainly see how older 'premium' brand cars, can quickly become uneconomic to repair!

Re: Audi TT service
1/2 hour to top up power steering fluid? £26? How did they slip that in Ian?

Re: Audi TT service
I put the times in myself, they just gave a total on hours, forget that half an hour I'm sure it will apply elsewhere. Of course it's obvious they add on extra time for jobs so everything is probably half an hour longer than it should be.tut wrote:1/2 hour to top up power steering fluid? £26? Re: Audi TT service
I'd find out who the previous owner was and tap them up for a contribution....................

Re: Audi TT service
Still paying off the loan on it, and it isn't really going to sell for much without doing the work. Typically I would love an Elise but can't get insured very easily yet. The loan is paid off in July 2012 I think. Would love an Elise right now but that isn't realistic, only way that would work was if the TT went back to Mum and Dad, N1 came to me, and I continued paying the TT loan but instead I have the Elise. Dad? Summer months and mum is desperate for the TT? Haha.

Re: Audi TT service
you could trade it it for something the same value and keep up the payments.

Ali's (SLS) apprentice Josh is X-audi and looked after my A6 for me.
Top lad. Might be worth a call?

Will I be able to get as good a car for the money I get though, I wouldn't have thought so that's why it made more sense to keep the TT. I don't know any better but seemed to be the case from what I knew.

Woulda been worth a look but probably too late now, expecting the car back today or tomorrow. For future reference though.Andy G wrote:Ali's (SLS) apprentice Josh is X-audi and looked after my A6 for me.

Re: Audi TT service
Looks like you've been well and truely bummed........... with the exception of the wheel bearings and maybe the timing belt etc, could the rest of it not have been done over a period of time by yourself or the SE collective for beer tokens?

Re: Audi TT service
On hindsight, there have always been good reports of J&D at Insch. David, the D part was on the run with us yesterday, so I would have put it in with him.
I don't actually think we have been ripped off at all, there was a hell of a lot of work and it all needed doing, though could have paid £33 per hour instead of £45. I thought the four hours for two wheel bearings was double, but David said 4-5 hours.
The car loan is paid off June next year Ian, not 2012.
