Well thats depressing :(
The original elise is what turned everything round for Lotus and yet they continue to go against everything it stood for, even the fuel consumption isnt great at 34 combined! My S1 did 35+ regularly with as much as 43 on long runs and still did the ton in 18 sec not over 20

Yep, kinda took the wind out of my sails...for a moment. At the end of the day, the car needs to be tried out to form a personal view.

However I do feel that the torque figure is pretty disappointing in relation to weight of this S2 revision - so unless the 6-speeder makes it feel a bit better (Robin might be along in a moment with the Fisics if we are lucky!), then it really is starting to feel like a backwards step for Lotus. At not much change from £30k they are pushing it a bit I think...

Having said all that, it could well simply be part of the average CO2 emissions game that all manufacturers are now having to play, and if Lotus don't sell many of them they probably won't be too concerned.

I'll be interested to see what happens to 2nd hand values of this new S 1.6 model though...

And also what they are going to do about the 2ZZ engines in the R, SC and of course the Exiges.

It will weigh another 100kg, might never even make 100mph, or if it does it'll be 30s+.
