Gumball Evora

Post by jj » Thu May 26, 2011 12:28 pm

Dropped by Covent Garden early bells on my way to work this morning and had a look at the lineup for this years Gumball.

The Evora really did look awesome, first time I have seen one that made me go wow (stickers aside). The rear diffuser was sweet as was the rest of the setup. Stripped out inside too and it was pretty cool to see the inside looking like an S1 Elise where you could see the aluminium.

The widebody Renault 4 was top drawer too, its a clio V6 with the 4 body on top by the looks of it. Other standout car was an AMG maybach, on russian plates.

There was also an Aston one-77 which was nice to get a close up look at, but it was metallic jobby brown, then wrapped gold and other awful colours, so did not look as good as it could

AU plate could indicate that its either a factory loan or ex lotus management car, looking nice none the less.

Looks like the Gumball is showing the signs of the recession as did there not use to be a loads more entries than we can see in the pics. It just looks like 20ish cars there?

George

Ps Wish I could get stripes on the Evora but don't think my missus would be too happy

There were over 100 cars. That is only looking down one half of one side of the square at Covent Garden.

I would take a guess at £20m worth of cars easy - the one-77 is £1.8m alone, there were Maybachs, Phantoms, SLRs and veyron, as well as rows of Conti GTs and other stuff.

Some spectacle, so no, I dont think the recession has had much effect

Off topic but on the subject of Evora paint scheme, would love to have done something similar to this on my Black Evora:

Not going to happen as I know someone would not be happy, however I think an Evora with matt black stripes would look pretty good, similar in concept to the Elise White Edition.

Inside, it had two bucket seats, small suede wheel, and from my quick glance not a lot else, as like I said you could see the chassis.

I think it was based on an S as well. Cross between an Exige and an Evora.

I dont think the Gumball one is a racecar, it looked more like a road car tweaked to look like the racer - it does have reggy plates and a taxdisc as well.
