last year being my first TT. i loved the format. Allowed me to get lost getting to old deer and not rush to catch up as everyone went in their own groups etc.

i think scotty could be onto someting, KH then to a hotel then use the hotel as a base for everyone to have their own sort of run on saturday. Means faster folk can go longer routes etc.

eitherway i'm happy just once again need to look at money and a better job so i can do this one in an elise!

Downside with the hotel two nights is a two-night hotel bill (agreed, not the worst problem in the world with the rates we've had in the past) but part of the fun for me was the travelling through Scotland. If the idea with Craig's barn party comes off, there's a camping angle as well, plus I'm sure there would be B&Bs relatively close?

You've hit the nail on the head though in that the event is what you make of it, so lots of groups did go lots of different ways and this can only be a good thing from a "not annoying the locals" POV, which might happen less if there's more of a 'loop' feel to the Saturday run.

All good ideas though. However, for me, the original format still works best on all levels :)

The Barn Party is not an issue just depends if thats what people want. There are B&Bs fairly close as well as some hotels but none in walking distance like TT so would need taxis. Camping would be the best option and I would of course rig up a couple caravans so there would be showers in the morning. There would be some bed space in these also and plenty floor space, just depends how much roughing you guys can take/want?

Finishing up in the North East has never stopped people heading to the Wild West on previous TTs :-)

Having a credible tenting option for both nights might help. Glen Nevis camp site at Ft Bill and Craig's field (inside the buggy track?!) - what's not to like!

I voted to keep the format, but I reckon the way to go is maybe to not worry too much about somewhere close to tut towers (unless there is somewhere close of course!)

As for a name, how about Tut Tourers. Sounds similar but is enough of a change to leave the original event in the history books (even if I didn't make one!)

Original format, big track day, massive run, big party, morning run. Most amazing driving experience I have had so far.

Simple is best and Craig's suggestion sounds the most straight forward - although if it's the shed I'm thinking of, there might be a bit of cleaning up to do prior to the day! Ft Bill as a fri venue does offer plenty accomodation at a reasonable price.

The barn idea still sounds like a fair bit of work for Craig, if it was going to be too much maybe consider a village hall in the area that can be rented. The raffle ticket idea for beers is often used at our local hall as an alternative to a licence. Buy 5 tickets win 5 drinks.....hic. It's similar to bring your own.

Kerry it would be the shed we did your car in not the ones with my Fergy etc, but wouldnt worry too much about cleaning the garage mate. Theres actually a lot of change since you were here its actually almost empty. As regards time to set up the Garage it will only take a day or so and I will have no problem getting help. The main thing is it wont cost anything.
I think Mike is already looking into catering so that would be the only real cost.
Since it would be summer all the caravans will be on site so can use the whole yard for a track and have loads of tyres to use for the corners, Ive even got a couple of floodlights for later.
No issues with noise as Im in the middle of nowhere, no alchohol issues either so would be fairly straightforward. Plenty of hardstanding to park all the cars regardless of weather and perfectly safe in terms of damage from vandals etc. It would be a lot easier than the bonfire we did couple years back thats for sure. As regards safety we can restrict the kart when Scottys on and we should be fine :thumbsup

I think that as Craig has the facilities and the enthusiasm, that would be my choice. I don't really think that the work load comes into it especially as it will be more shared this time, and I know the routine. It helps that I am retired, but I arranged five TT's on my own, obviously with Verian doing most of Saturday. Also it is private, free, no problem with alcohol, loads of space, and the large shed for BBQ or whatever we go for if we were hit by rain. Maybe we would even get away with it for the sixth time.

I doubt if there will be a problem getting volunteers to help with setting Saturday up, KH, FW or equivalent, and Sunday lunch if we go for it, I can set up probably together with Mike, and if we need help we will shout out. However we can still ruminate as it will be December before I can get the KH date, and nothing can be done before then.

If there are no objections I can set up the database now purely to get an idea of numbers, regardless of what format we choose, it is likely to be KH, Friday accommodation, Saturday run, Saturday night, and finishing up with a Sunday run.

Good stuff.

Craig that was the shed I thought - well done if you've cleared that one out, looked like a lifetime of caravan history in there! Definately the ideal spot if your up for it - you better tell your uncle in advance or there will be a few calls :D
