zinc plated wishbones

Post by Stephen » Fri Apr 13, 2012 7:14 pm

Just got my wishbones and other suspension bits back from the zinc platers. Now to por 15 them and refit over the weekend.
Should last for a while now.

Belt and braces. Remember not to get any POR15 on your hands ;)
Pics? Hoping to do this soon, sans the zinc bit

How much did it cost to have the suspenstion bits done? Will you have to clean the zinc coating off where the ball joint push into?

Will post pics soon.
The dipping and plating cost £125. I don't think the plating will cause a problem with the ball joints.
I left my bushes in as the seem ok and at an extra £200+ a set I can do these later when required.
Will be refurbishing the steering rack and fitting new ball joints all round so the car should be good and tight once done.

I got POR15 all over my hands, face and hair. I chose to dive in to my defender chassis painting without reading instructions...

...a brillo pad and a few layers of skin later...

...lesson learned.
