Love the IWC, I would like a Brown strap/Silver faced Pilot or Portuguese to compliment my Explorer2 8)

I just received $1200 back from VAT paid on my Rolex four months ago, had almost forgotten about it :thumbsup

Taste is not usually my strong point.... considering my lotus ownership was a Saffron Yellow S2 and the 'Aqua' S2.
I guess once in a while I have to luck in. ;)

I thought your yellow 135R was cool. Never seen another one before or since.

The Aqua S2... thankfully that was quite rare too. :D

As I never bothered with a watch, I gave the gold IWC that the Sultan presented me with to my co-pilot.

However having followed this thread, I wish that I had kept it.

Very, very nice! :thumbsup
I also love IWC's although upon asking Mr Rolfe, I was advised why would I want a watch whereby I had to explain to the average Joe, what it actually was! A Rolex sub being a much safer buy!

But isn't a Rolex too "obvious"?

Surely you buy a watch for YOU to enjoy, not to bam off or to alienate "average Joe" :?: :?

:withstupid

Sounds like a crap reason to me. If you'd get pleasure from owning the IWC, then surely it matters not a bit if other people don't recognise it...

Hasten to add, I really like many Rolexs but would never buy one for that reason alone.

I stand bythe sentiment, however, i think it was phrased, "would you want to buy a watch that you have to explain to people."

Many people buy and wear many watches for many reasons, just like cars.

Sub is no doubt a safer bet financially, yep... but where's the fun in going for the safe option all the time?
I'd also not go out of my way to explain it. Another way to look at it though... a Sub may attract unwanted attention from average Joe ;)

Still aiming for either a sub or ExpII for my 40th in 2yrs though

I love my sub, it's a cool watch, not blingy, 100% bullet proof and a wearable everyday watch!

I bought mine because I have allways wanted one, like actually as long as I can remember!
