Hello, me again.

This is getting a bit of a habit, being down at MMC. (but nothing on their part, I have to say)

First of all, thanks to Craig for help over the phone on Friday afternoon, during our lunchstop at the Clunie Inn. The car was struggling to engage gear, especially the lower ones, whilst the engine was running, and I gave him a quick call to see if he could help. (gearshift worked fine, whilst the engine was off, and it was a PITA when having to switch off the engine, and then select first, every time we had to stop at a passing place, on the run up north, at the Achmelvich camping trip. It was exactly the same symptoms, as when I needed a new clutch, and I definitely did not want to pay for that again.

I asked Robin, if he knew what it could be, and thank you Robin for having a look, and the offer from him in taking my car to MMC, while he gave me his one, for us to get back home. :thumbsup

I decided to take the car back down to MMC this morning, to see if the team could help, and I was amazed how things turned out. I spoke to Craig, and we had a little laugh about being back down again.
Craig then had a look, then told me that his mechanic would cast his eye over it too. I was all prepared to leave the car, and get the train back up the road, but within no time at all, I hear the sound of my new exhaust, and see my car being driven along the road outside the showroom. I thought that there was no way that the car could be fixed in that short period of time, but how wrong I was. Craig then appeared with the keys, and told me that the car was ready to go. Brilliant I thought, until I asked him what was wrong. He told me that the brake/clutch fluid was cooked, and was caused by my sprited driving.

Thanks to all at MMC, especially Calum for looking at the car, and changing the fluid, and the boys through the back that do all the work in keeping our cars in good condition. An extremely fast turnaround today, and I had another great run up past Glenshee again afterwards. :cheers

Steve :thumbsup

Ps. Any chance of opening a Lotus dealership up in Aberdeen, as it's not cheap for petrol nowadays

Glad it got sorted - if we had any brake fluid on site we could have bled it on the lawn and then given the old fluid to the new age travellers to recycle ;-) Glad it wasn't the bracket - that'll be next then - I assume the pedal feels quite different now ...

Thanks Robin.

The pedal difference is night and day.

At the weekend, the clutch biting point was just off the floor, now it's very near to the top. Thanks for double de-clutching tip, and explanation. :thumbsup

Going to put up a thread later tonight, asking for some tips on preventive measures.

Steve.

Time to add my annual :thumbsup to Craig and the team again. Left my car at MMC when I went off on holiday. Service and MOT done. Craig was brilliant as usual at providing updates and on his advice I ordered new discs and pads and a primary de-cat pipe and they were all fitted and car was ready and gleaming when I picked the car up two weeks later. You just don't get service like it anywhere else these days.

Had my Elise in for its 5 year service and MOT recently. Craig and his guys were excellent as usual; kept me fully informed, and were all extremely helpful. SE discount was welcome as always, and Craig also gave me a great deal on the new brake hoses needed to pass the MOT. Thanks again to all involved.

Enjoyed chatting with Brandon and Steve (C7) too.

Bollocks, I keep a bottle of fluid in the car along with spare water and oil caps, S/C belt, and brake pads, but the symptoms did not seem to fit in with that.

Yet another Thumbs up from me :thumbsup

I needed to get a few things sorted on the car and a geo done before the SIDC trackday on sat, and Craig very kindly fitted me in. I arrived a little bit later than arranged (thanks to a traffic jam on the motorway due to a crash), however, Craig still called me earlier than he suggested to say the car was ready. The bill was also a bit lower than expected! Car feels great. I'll be back in around a month for the service.

Thanks

Dom

This i getting boring.

Car threw and EML light, called MMC and booked the car in. Dropped it off on a saturday with Brandon (a huge plus) and by Wednesday (a day earlier than advised) the car was ready for collection. Eventually picked it up on the Sunday, again from Brandon where it was sitting out the front cleaner than it's been for months. (well since the last time it was in  )

Biggest plus for me is being able to email Craig rather than having to speak to someone on the phone.....sounds pathetic but i'm in an out of meetings all day and email just makes it so easy.

Thanks again. :thumbsup
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.

....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Another thanks again to Craig and the team.

I had the 211 serviced recently but it still had some warranty bits and bobs (mirrors, and indicator) and accusump filter to fit. I was pushed for time with vacation so left it at MMC on the way to the ferry and picked it up on the way home, Craig happy to store it properly for me in the interim. I also wanted a lower seat mount and the 'bigger' aero screen so Craig got all the correct P/N's and fitted with the seat in the perfect measured position. All at the usual keen prices. :thumbsup

Incidentally I'm really happy with the lower seat, amazing the how much connected and enclosed it makes you feel (midgets will need a booster seat though!). Also now a clear view of the dials, before the steering wheel cut into the top. The bigger aero screen means sunglasses are now OK without the clip on bike screen and should minimise highspeed aero effects with helmet on (eg for Spa...). It cost a fair bit the car now feels perfect for me. Visually it doesn't look any different really...as pointed out by Nicola.

Cheers,
Ali

You should have got the roof option ... first spa day popped onto 14 day forecast today .. .rain ... lots of rain :-)

Should add my thanks once more too - Egor went back in to MMC to get annoying exhaust rattle sorted - although I had green lighted use of weapons to "modify" tray and rear grillllle in fact only small arms were required to modify a couple of mounting brackets :-) On top of that Egor now has primo tyres (with tread .. did I mention the rain in Spa). Oh and I owe petty cash £1.40 'cos I didn't have BFH (bus fare home) ...

Cheers,
Robin

Time for me to add my name to the long list of satisfied punters.

Got the Evora back on Friday after getting a new AC condenser and another couple of minor bits 'n' bobs sorted out. Also got a 2bular decat fitted - car sounds like it should now, not too loud though.
As usual Craig was more than helpful and kept me informed about progress etc.

Thanks again :cheers
